^^^ Very true but I must say the sooner people accept that the days of Haas are over and odds are will probably never happen again. Most places never get a basketball span Willard had with him and even less, if any, get it twice.

Zero people think the days of Haas are still here.
If enough kids w average talent or better go out for the team in the pee wee division we're in we should go to regionals at least 1 out of every 3-4 years.

If true, and zero people felt as you say, then his name would not come up as often as it does. For some reason there are those in Willard that think they should or could make it to regionals on a regular schedule. There are schools that have never won a district title but others think it can be done every 4 years. Winning a District Title is not as easy as some may think. Ask Ontario fans, who have had a good developing system over the last 30 years. In the last 15 years they have been to regionals once and they are arguably the most celebrated program in the area in recent years.

Playing in the "pee wee" Division , Willard will have to keep their out of Division schedule challenging to make regular trips to Regionals.

Dudette, read up aways. Not my phrase. All I did was "quote" Scarlett's description of Willard's Division in the New SBC

Compared to what Willard's had to win to get to regionals the past 40 years, yes this district is 75 cakes on a cake boat.
Nobody talks about Haas days or even Noss days anymore.
Plz thou non Willard ppl keep telling me about Willard.

ScarletFever is the most respected person on here now, on NOSF and going back 20 years to the good JJ Huddle days. When he comes up with a catchy, accurate phrase.....it's always worthy of quoting to further a discussion. When Ontario was the largest school in the NCC, Vogel came up with a similar catchy phase for that situation. He said Ontario was playing "itsy bitsy" schools in the NCC. Balogh did what I suggested Willard would have to do to over come "peewee's", come Tournament time. Fill their out of league schedule with teams from higher OHSSA Divisions. When I get duded, I dudette in response.

I would never think of telling a Willard person about Willard. What I will tell you is I work with some people who are from Willard and some family who still live there and the old days and the old ways regularly come up and those names are mentioned.
The game is not played the same as it was 40 years ago so comparing the teams of today with teams from 1975 is meaningless.

I wasn't comparing Chris' run at his Alma mater to his mentor at all in fact I think in today's win now society a guy willing to come home and coach where he grew up is a great thing. Like him or not he bleeds Crimson. He's in what year four? He's just now getting kids in that if they are running a youth program have what he wants out of players and grew up knowing his system. Like I said no jail break no reason to think he was a bad hire. This new sbc I expect to start seeing that Willard swagger.

Joe is a quality guy. He loves sports and he seems really driven, I bet he'll do a great job. And for the people who don't know, he will be leaving a job with the Brewers in MLB to be able to spend 52 weeks with his family. It really is a great story to be honest. Something else positive that is going on---Private funds are being raised and a complete gutting and revamping of the HS weight room is in the near future for WHS athletes. I've seen the long list of items in these plans and it will be 21st century all the way with all brand new modern equipment and training techniques and a highly motivated instructor coaching it. I've seen the New Football Coach is now in town and he is promoting getting in the weight room. These are some positive steps that were sorely needed for us to be able to compete better in all sports. Heard a rumor that maybe astro turf for the football field is being talked about.

As for not ever getting back to those kinda "Haas days",,,well that was a 30 year run of success for the most part. I suppose asking for a similar 30 year run might be difficult. But--I think the occasional trip to the Regionals could happen. The fan base is there,,and they will support a winner. Look no further than Girls Hoops--the gym at Shelby was packed for the District Final SE game where we ran into a buzz saw in the Adachi sisters. But the fan base will come out if the kids and coaches win and provide an exciting product on the floor. We had that with the Haas and Noss' teams---Dawson/ Pfhal teams had that too---it just needs a little winning to start a fire.

If the admin would olive branch me I'd look into sponsoring .001% of the new turf field as long as they called it the Scarlet Carpet.

In the Final season of the NOL is anyone looking for a fresh start more than the Flashes?

In the Final season of the NOL is anyone looking for a fresh start more than the Flashes? I think the last remaining NOL diehards in Willard are ready to trade in the old league in favor of more wins. I never thought I'd give in, but enough's enough. This isn't just in hoops, but in all sports.

The "old league" as the "diehards" remember it has been gone for years. It seems to be time for a change and support new ideas.
