Too many bowls that nobody cares about. NCAA has watered the bowl games down so much that its become boring for the most part. Stadiums with empty seats, low TV ratings with few sponsors. My guess is, the system will eventually correct itself and begin to retract it's scope, without any changes necessary from the NCAA. In the mean time, let the meaningless games between underperforming programs be played and let them call it a 'bowl game', as a reward for winning half their games, or some cases, less than half their games....lol Kinda like passing out trophies to everyone, winners and losers.....after all, there are no losers, only winners in this game.

40 total plus a NC game. 80 teams to fill them and there is only 128 D1 teams to begin with. :-( Just give them all trophies, pat 'em on the behind and send 'em home.

I think the simple solution is the NCAA raising the bar for what quantifies 'bowl eligible'.

Actually, if you look at records, the number of teams who are nowhere close to bowl caliber is 20. I'm sorry, you lose half or more, of your scheduled games, your not a bowl qualifier.....your garbage. North Texas 5-7 Mississippi State 5-7 Hawaii 6-7 TCU 6-6 South Carolina 6-6 Indiana 6-6 Northwestern 6-6 Baylor 6-6 South Alabama 6-6 Wake Forest 6-6 Maryland 6-6 Boston College 6-6 NC State 6-6 Vanderbilt 6-6 Central Michigan 6-6 Miami of Ohio 6-6 UTSA 6-6 Central Florida 6-6 SMU 6-6 Louisiana-LaFayette 6-6

I think the simple solution is the NCAA raising the bar for what quantifies 'bowl eligible'. I think the reality is probably the financial kickbacks that the NCAA enjoys in some way, shape or form from the bowl games. That would be my best guess why 6-6 gets you a bowl game.... and 5-7s are simply filler teams...

First half and Michigan is struggling mightily against FSU. This does not bode well for the B1G although I realize they are missing Peppers and now Butt...

Great 4th quarter. Michigan defense stepped it up 2nd half. Offense sucks and so does QB Speight. Michigan 2017 will probably duplicate MSU 2016. They lose 10 of 11 defensive starters.

scUM lost three of their last four games. Failed tovwin B10 championship. Failed to make playoffs. Failed tovwin Orange Bowl against FSU. Another 10 3 season for Hairball. With the huge number of returning starters this was supposed to be Hairball's and scUM's year. I know refs gave it to OSU and injuries doomed them vs FSU. Like Peppers, scUM and Hairball overhyped overrated and underachieved. Excuses aplenty. They needed more class acts like Jake Butt. Hope the squelers draft Peppers. Compare that to OSU which has overachieved this year. Ann Arbor will soon tire of this act.

How did Peppers really injure himself that he could not play ? Or was he planning on not playing anyway, Like a few others claiming to improve there draft stock, His injury sounded suspicious to me.

Hamstring injury the day before the Bowl game. Right!!! He couldn't play in the Bowl game, but if the Bowl game was on the 31st instead of the 30th he could play. Right!!! He hasn't made a decision yet if he will turn pro or not. Right!!!

To slow to play DB to small to play LB. No INTs in his college career until his last game, when he got one.

The Michigan media/PR department did their best to bill him as the next Charles Woodson....lol Further promotions of their player/product emulating CW, by futile attempts to display him on offense was a dismal failure.

Alabama 24 Washington 7 Final, Alabama looked really good defensively, I can't stand Bama or eSECpn, But nobody's gonna beat them, Not this year.

That was one hell of a Rose Bowl. A real defensive struggle (as in both defenses were struggling)
Penn State ****** away a 14 point lead in the 4th, and the B1G finishes 3-7 in bowls, with the East Division going 0-5.

The difference between Alabama and OSU, and yes there is a huge one. Is they graduate and instantly replace and do not skip a beat.

Not sure Alabama would have escaped the regular season with a lone loss as Ohio State did, had they begun the season with only 6 returning starters.

Correct. Just the phrase in itself is faulty.

As usual, when coined 'the best conference in America', the Big Ten crapped themselves when it mattered most. Their signature win over a previously unbeaten MAC school?

Bama favored by 7 against Clemson I'll take the 7 and Clemson on this one. I don't think we will see a more motivated team since the 014 Buckeyes, take the field Monday night. This may be the game of games in this young playoff series.

Instant classic in the title game.
Glad to see Clemson win.....means the Buckeyes were at least eliminated by the national champion, and also keeps us tied for the most CFP Titles.
