O line should be top 10 in the league. Which with Kessler having some protection. He might be an okay or better QB. Defense added some. Tyvis Powell hopefully can compete for FS spot. Crowell rushed for 1000 with a bad line. Celing 7 wins. Floor 3 wins. Either way. I feel better how this team is going then in past years.

I feel better how this team is going than in past years. Amen to that. Hopefully Kizer pans out, if so, this draft has potential to be a tremendous draft. Hell, if we can get 2 of the first 4 picks to pan out, I'd day we're in a good spot.

Top 10 in the league? Thomas is on his last leg(literally) and none of your free agent acquisitions are threatening to make the pro bowl anytime soon. I love the optimism though. At least I know the Steelers are starting the season 1-0.

I only care about his pocket passes. If you can't get it done in the pocket then you will be out of the NFL quickly.
The kid has a cannon. He has the size. He needs to sit the entire year and get coached up. He needs to be mentally ready and I don't think he will be mentally ready in year 1. Playing a young QB who isn't mentally ready on a BAD team ruins that young QB. Give him 2 off-seasons and 16 games of analyzing what the QB's ahead of him did right and wrong, then hopefully we will have our QB.

Problem is that we all know that he will find his way onto the field by mid season simply due to attrition if nothing else just like Kessler did last season.

At least I know the Steelers are starting the season 1-0. Britt had 1,000 yard season last year with that qb situation in LA, and zietler is one of the best at his position. Thomas is still a premier LT. And picked up a solid center. Analyst believe they'll be a top 10 o line too.

"After the Kansas City Chiefs traded up to 10th and selected Mahomes, the quarterback who Jackson felt had the biggest upside, that left Watson as the highest-ranked QB on Cleveland's board. Watson, in Jackson's eyes, was the passer best suited to play right away, but he was not the man he hoped the Browns would select with the 12th pick. Instead, he was looking to provide Williams with another potential star: Ohio State safety Malik Hooker. "To me, he has a chance to be another Ed Reed," Jackson would tell me later. "When I coached in Baltimore, I saw firsthand what kind of impact a great safety can have.""

"Which teams did the best job of adding talent in the 2017 NFL Draft?
We set out to answer that question using NFL.com senior analyst Gil Brandt's Hot 150 prospect rankings as the unit of measurement.
Points were assigned to each draftee based on where he ranked in Brandt's Hot 150. The No. 1-rated prospect received 150 points, the No. 2 prospect received 149 points, etc.
Here's how the teams stacked up, using Brandt's rankings as the guide.
1. Cleveland Browns
Score: 665 points (9 players) The skinny: It's no surprise to see the Browns atop this list given that they picked three players in Round 1, but they found value in later rounds, as well, helping them to this landslide victory. They added nine players from the Hot 150 -- no other team had more than six. The players (points):
No. 1: Myles Garrett (150) No. 21: Jabrill Peppers (130) No. 29: David Njoku (122) No. 33: DeShone Kizer (118) No. 92: Roderick Johnson (59) No. 132: Howard Wilson (19) No. 139: Larry Ogunjobi (12) No. 146: Zane Gonzalez (5)"

The Browns need to play Kizer because they need to know if they have to draft a QB in the first round in 2018. Very similar to Carolina picking Clausen in the 2nd and realizing he blew, so they picked Newton the next year.

And that is the enigma Kizer pick.
All indications thus far is that he needs time.
But
The browns need to figure out what they have before the loaded 2018 QB class.
After thinking on it awhile, I think they should sit Kizer all year, still draft a QB high regardless and let them battle it out.....even though, at the core, I think a QB competition is terrible for Cleveland.
Then again, a lot can change in a year. It was a year ago that Kizer was projected to go #1.
Idk, I'm stuck on Darnold. Hasn't been a QB that cool and calm since Montana.

Protect Kessler and he'll do fine I think. Which should with improved line. Can't see drafting another qb next year if kizer sets all year tho. Cause that means the plan is kizer to run it next year or after.

the more we play Kizer the more his value drops
sit on him this year if for no other reason then to retain his trade value

IF the Browns were to take a QB next year in Round 1 that would be:
A 3rd Round QB A 2nd Round QB A 1st Round QB
In consecutive years

Take it with a grain of salt as these mocks are waaaay too early, but McShays new 2018 has Darnold going 1 to Cleveland, so there's that.
His way too early 2017 mock from last year had Watson 1 to Cleveland, Brad Kaaya 2 to SF

Post Options Post by tommygunn on Jan 5, 2017 at 5:38am Lol, here we go again drafting defensive guys 1st round. What the Browns need to do is draft WR's and a QB and O line. The top 3 drafted WRs combined for 0 TDS There were only 2 OL taken late in the 1st Round. Jury still out on QBs(Watson, Mahomes, Trubisky) Draft Objective- Get 2018 1st Round pick(s), correctPrepare for 2-5 wins in 2017 too optimistic Celing 7 wins. Floor 3 wins. too optimisticAfter Hooker....O-lineman, O-lineman, O-lineman, WR, O-lineman, O-lineman, O-lineman. Browns did not take Hooker They took 1 OL They took 0 WR I think the Browns go: Garrett at 1 OJ Howard at 12 with an outside chance they trade up from 12 to get Hooker from/before the Chargers. Browns passed on both Howard and Hooker(and Watson) at 12 and traded down to 25 while picking up the 1st Round Round pick from Houston that they used on Denzel Ward this year. Howard finished with 6 TDs(tied for 1st among 2017 1st Round Picks) We gave up the 12th pick this year for a 1st rounder next year from a team who will make the playoffs, so a 12th for (2) 25s? We could have grabbed Jonathan Allen at 12 and had Garrett and Allen. Or grabbed Malik Hooker. Houston finished with the 4th worst record in the league. Allen and Hooker combined to play 12 games Garrett, so far, is as advertised I hate the Peppers pick and not just because of the college he attended. The beginnings of TIGs internal revolution. I do think people are overselling the 2018 Texans. I just don't see them as a playoff team....I don't even see them as a good team. Allen would have been nice, but those medical flags on his shoulders...And I wouldn't be surprised if the Browns dropped Foster off his draft boards completely. Texans were terrible, but injuries to Watson and Watt were obviously a large part of that. Wasn't the shoulders that did Allen in, it was his feet. Foster is facing felony counts for multiple domestic violence, possession of a weapon, and infliction of bodily harm. Allen, Foster and Hooker all dropped in the draft, and looking back, it seems a lot of GMs were right about passing on them I'm just happy that none of the picks were Brandon Weeden. For the 5th consecutive year Foster=Rolondo McLain nailed itWatson=Troy Smith 2.0 whoopsIf he plays at all this year then I think his career is over like every other Browns QB before him. I think if you put Kizer on the field to start in Week 4(Kesslers 1st start last year) it could be terrible to a career altering degree. Weeden vs Eagles terrible. Manziel vs Bengals terrible. Frye vs Steelers 1st Half terrible. With all the anticipatory throws the NFL requires, confidence is huge in the development of a QB, and with some of the traits Kizer apparently possesses it could certainly spell the end before it starts. With phrases like "gets stuck on first read", "dreadful lapses in judgement", "indecisive/lacks anticipation" and "high grade arm-low grade accuracy", to me, it sounds like a recipe for disaster. The Browns need to play Kizer because they need to know if they have to draft a QB in the first round in 2018. the more we play Kizer the more his value drops LOLOLOLOL IF the Browns were to take a QB next year in Round 1 that would be: A 3rd Round QB A 2nd Round QB A 1st Round QB In consecutive years Ladies and Gentlemen, your Cleveland Browns.
