I'm kinda late to the game. I was out of town for the first half dozen games this season so let's **** some people off. Shelby is an above average team playing average bball. I've seen two of their losses and they should not have lost them (Ontario and Lex). As long as they are playing lackluster D and settling for threes they'll continue to get what they have gotten. If they turn up the D, dribble penetrate with at least four guys who can, and get their two taller guys to learn to drop step and shoot or head fake and shoot then they'll win the ones they have struggled with. Until Bellevue gets football players to play bball they are going to continue to lose. Bellevue used to play a physical game of ball with football player/athletes. The fact they are 2/3 in the NOL says a lot about the state of the league. Bad bball. Admittedly I haven't seen Sandusky yet. I've seen pretty bad bball so far. And I'm sad because I believe Shelby has some potential.

Ontario 68, Norwalk 26. Ontario led 14-3 after one and 37-3 at halftime. I've never seen a basketball team that has had as many injuries as Norwalk this year. It's hard , but I really feel for Coach Gray. Norwalk JVs won 30-28 on a last 2nd 3-pointer, by(I think his name is) Paige Mauer. A nice player, a Junior that IMO looked like he could help the varsity, with all the players hurt.

I like how Ontario runs their program they are deep at both the JV and varsity level. Coach Gray seemed to take it as well as he could teaching, not yelling... Ontario has a lot of really good players and just are missing a stud from being a REALLY good team. The PG is very talented

Yes, all the bad luck is not these players fault, they played hard and Coach Gray coached hard without raising his voice. I'm quite sure the players on the State Title team were yelled a lot more than these players will be.
This is not the team that lost to Bellevue, which is not to disparage their win, they deserved it. Joe has coached the heck out of them since that loss. There are 4 players in the rotation that played football, a higher than usual number for Ontario. IMO several of the players didn't put in the work this summer that is expected, which also showed early in the season.
The PG is 2nd on the team in scoring and leads the team in rebounds, assists and steals.

Wow! That's a bit rude. How do you know how much WORK they put in? Do you live with them? So because they play football they shouldn't be on the varsity basketball team? I just don't understand your logic. If they were "basketball first" athletes and behind a bit at the beginning of football season would you be ripping them on a public forum for not putting in the work there? As a parent of multiple sport athletes there are oftentimes in the off season, particularly summertime, when the schedules conflict and you have to make a choice. Those kids may not have been to all of the basketball activities, but if they were at football conditioning instead it's not like they were sitting on their butts playing video games. I watched a kid last year earn all Ohio honors in 3 sports and another earn all conference and all district as well. So let's not pretend that one needs to sell one's soul to a specific sport in order to have success and contribute to the team.

galion, they just beat a team missing 3 starters, 2 of which would have been primary ball handlers, by pressing all over. And then tries to justify the bad start to the season. The spin doctor can make any situation good for his team.

That's not the point. I don't understand the attempt to disparage kids for choosing to play more than one sport.

Football was bad this year for them and he sees basketball with rose glasses so the spin is the explain the weak start. He will say he was not ripping on kids and we are just "haters" for questioning anything said. I agree with your point. At one time I had a house full of multiple sport athletes and thought it was the greatest thing for them.

Could be a good game tonight, Depending on which Huron team shows up, Huron @ Sandusky, I expect Blue Streaks to win by 20+, But ya never know, Didn't think Huron would beat Perkins.

Bellevue used to play a physical game of ball with football player/athletes.. I don't remember the late John Green, Bryan Keggereis, Brian Schubert, nor any of the Falknors that played Football at the Varsity Level.

If the Tigers let your dumpy *** decide if they were gonna win and lose they would be 0-11. You're the biggest tiger hater of them all. I tried talking my classmates up before the season and you were the first to shut me down. Yet you have the audacity to claim I represent huron in the wrong way. At least I support. Keep your dumpy *** opinions about the tigers to yourself. Go tigers

I've been in the area for 16 years and when Bellevue was winning they had several football players contributing significantly.

I'm with you fanofthegame! I say this a lot during conversation about the bball team. It does make a difference! IMO Bellevue has two football players on the team and back in the day half the team played football! You always have just basketball players and they are usually the core scorers on the team because that's all they play which is great, but I feel the football players bring the physical play needed and not all the time but a lot of the time they are stronger underneath and in general more physical. Some not all bball players don't know where the weight room is at and it shows on the court!

Well this is interesting. Nice idea to go along with the Route 20 Football.....but I hope whoever designed the plaque realizes this will become a biannual meeting starting next season. Wonder what they'll do in seasons where the series is split 1-1.

I can see Huron beating Sandusky tonight. In the same league it would have been quite a battle with Huron, Perkins, Vermilion and Sandusky.

Good catch on the trophy, AC! Two crappy basketball programs "fighting" for a crappy trophy. Guess it's fitting!

So let's not pretend that one needs to sell one's soul to a specific sport in order to have success and contribute to the team. How do you know what goes on in Galion? I've seen posts of yours be more specific. It is just a fact at Ontario, that not a lot of football players play basketball. Have seen many teams from one year to the next, have seen many players from one year to the next. Have a lot of sources. I can see the difference in play now versus earlier in the year. I didn't mention any names. So how do you know who I'm "ripping on"? If you play football and are good enough to play basketball you make the team. There are a few GREAT athletes that can be both great football players and great basketball players, but they are rare. Cade Stover is one of those rare athletes. Obviously, the more you work on your basketball skills in the off season the better player you become. All but one of Ontario's 1st and 2nd team All-Ohio players in the past 31 years, were basketball only players and NONE were great athletes like Cade Stover. It was their choice to work on their basketball skills year round. There have been many good football players who also wanted to be good basketball players. I've known many who after weight lifting for football, even after summer football practices would find time to do dribbling drills and shoot around at night in their drive way. Even after the season started they found time. Knowing they had to compete for a place on the basketball team against the basketball only players.

Final: Sandusky 70 Huron 48. Game was tied at 0, Huron led early 5-4, Game tied again at 10 each, After a Blue Streak timeout, Then it was all over. 30-15 Streaks after 1, 38-22 Sandusky at halftime, 58-33 Blue Streaks after 3. Don't know why the Sandusky coach kept after the officials during the game with that big lead ?, Before the game started, saw 3 Sandusky students being escorted out, Not sure what they did to get tossed. Sandusky was hitting on all cyclinders, Worst performance of the year for Huron, Couldn't hit a thing all night. 20 for 66 Shooting, awful.
