8/31 @ Indiana - Thursday game 9/9 Oklahoma 9/16 Army 9/23 UNLV 9/30 @ Rutgers 10/7 Maryland 10/14 @ Nebraska 10/28 Penn State 11/4 @ Iowa 11/11 Michigan State 11/18 Illinois 11/25 @ Michigan
I see 6 teams that could beat OSU if OSU doesn't play a good enough game. OU, Nebraska, PSU, Iowa, MSU, Mich.
I'm going with 10-2, losses to Oklahoma and Penn State.

This years group of talented youngsters that comprised the youngest team in college football, exceeded expectations by most everyone.
The youth movement returns, with a years of experience under their belt and fortified with the top recruiting class in the nation coming in. Add to that, a dramatic coaching upgrade on the offensive side of the ball and one word.....Urban Meyer.
All these elements and factors add up to another optimistic assessment for Ohio State football in 2017.
I think 10-2 would be the low side of things. No reason to believe we couldn't equal last years record of 11-1 or even 12-0
I've been reading early mutterings from college football experts, that the Buckeyes may be ranked #1, #2 or #3 preseason.

So far Urban Meyer has won at 12 of the B1G's 14 stadiums, and this year he will have a chance to add the remaining 2: Nebraska's Memorial Stadium and Iowa's Kinnick Stadium. 2017 will be OSU's first trip to Nebraska since 2011 and first trip to Iowa since 2010.

I see 3 losses this next season. Urban has only experienced 6 losses in 5 years. Odds don't favor your prediction.

JT Barrett has masterminded 4 of those 6 losses all by himself and he's back in 2017. JT Barrett keeps getting worse and worse and worse 87.1 - Adjusted QBR 2014 his freshman year 76.9 - Adjusted QBR 2015 his sophomore year 68.0 - Adjusted QBR 2016 his junior year ??.? - Adjusted QBR 2017 his senior year
He's been woeful in his last 3 games 38.1 - Adjusted QBR vs Michigan State 69.4 - Adjusted QBR vs Michigan 39.9 - Adjusted QBR vs Clemson He stunk vs Penn State 58.1 Adjusted QBR
JT Barrett in Postseason games 62.8 - Adjusted QBR vs Notre Dame in the 2015 Fiesta Bowl 39.9 - Adjusted QBR vs Clemson in the 2016 Fiesta Bowl
Compare that to Deshaun Watson sophomore in the postseason 84.6 - Adjusted QBR vs UNC in the 2015 ACC Championship Game 85.5 - Adjusted QBR vs Oklahoma in the 2015 Orange Bowl 93.2 - Adjusted QBR vs Alabama in the 2015 NC Game junior in the postseason 93.4 - Adjusted QBR vs Virginia Tech in the 2016 ACC Championship Game 91.8 - Adjusted QBR vs Ohio State in the 2016 Fiesta Bowl 92.4 - Adjusted QBR vs Alabama in the 2016 National Championship Game
Expect 2 to 4 losses in 2017 with JT "I can't throw an accurate pass over 3 yards" Barrett at QB. He keeps getting worse so maybe a 55.3 Adjusted QBR this year

I expect 0 or 1 loss. To much talent for anymore then 2, new coaching staff has excellent backgrounds. Sure same here. If someone isn't performing it will be next man up. Jt can get better in offseason and he might do very well with new staff. No reason to think bad of him. But I know urban won't watch him be inaccurate all year again. Next year we could really do something. Deep on defense and lots of options on offense. I don't buy in to the "young" saying. Cause this year with 1 loss till playoff. Proved that wrong. Go bucks.

No analysis of failures of O-line to open holes for run game which diminishes the concept of Urban's offense, where a good run game sets up play action passing game. No analysis of pass blocking. JT Barrett this year. 3rd Team All-America, Silver Football winner, and 1st Team All-Big Ten QB. THUS, it follows that all other Big Ten QBs next year are MUCH MORE likely to be the "mastermind of a loss" for their teams. Also, next year's schedule is more favorable than the past couple of years.

I'm going to reserve judgement on JT until after I see 3-4 games with Wilson as the OC. Coaching matters and they make players look much better if the system is sound. The two years where he dropped in efficiency could be all about coaching. The fact that our defense played so much better with a few changes in the staff proved it.

NO WAY, "the system" will be any different. One the best coaches in the country isn't going to allow his offense to be scrapped, by a head coach with a losing record. The only change that you will see is different play calling of the same plays, possibly a few new spread plays.

Play calling and how they use everyone is what I meant I guess. I'm hoping our OL is better too on the edges. A year under their belts should make a difference. We're going to miss Samuel, but I feel like our WR's will be better. Need a couple guys like Antonio Williams and McCall to step in and provide a spark in the backfield to give us more than just Weber.
Even though we lost some guys early to the NFL, we have a ton coming back and possibly the best ever recruiting class in OSU's history on paper.

JT has to improve. He had a bad season in the air. He had one good game vs Oklahoma and that was mainly Brown going and getting it done.

I wouldn't mind if they would scrap the H-Back getting so many touches. Let the running back and quarterback do the running and let the receivers do the catching with intermediate and long routes

Evidently experts in the know, don't agree with your assesment. Big ten player of the year, QB of the year, 3rd team All-American doesn't translate into what one would consider a 'bad season'. It's easy to understand the fall-off passing wise, with the obvious problems with the OL and an inexperienced fleet of receivers. Far too many games, J.T. had to literally take the game into his own hands late in the game and pull out win with his feet and clutch passing. Everyone fully expects to see a dramatic improvement in most every aspect of this years offense, J.T.'s numbers will improve as a result.

Hate to see that happen....but, after redshirting a year and basically filling in, he has a lot of eligibility left.....Nebraska sure seems like a possibility with his dad and two brothers playing there.....

Wish the young man the very best at his new school of choice, if in fact he transfers. Nothing but positive remarks from his team-mates and coaches, all said he was impressive on the practice field.

That'll change. Haskins will overtake that. And martell is better out of highschool as long he translates it to college.

Collier is the odd man out in the crowded QB scenario.
It's too early to say for sure, but I think the depth chart through spring training will be: 1. J.T. Barrett 2. Joe Burrow 3. Dwayne Haskins 4. Tate Martell
It will be interesting how quickly if at all, Martell will move up the pecking order. Finally, what's the status of Justin Cook?
