I didn't find anything on the baseball board, so I decided to post it here. Mike Ilitch, founder of Little Caesar's Pizza and owner of the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings, passed away yesterday at age 87. His impact on the city extended beyond his sports accomplishments, as he was behind other civic projects such as the Fox Theater renovation. He was a rock of stability and integrity and will be missed by many, even outside of the Motor City.

Cleveland Indian fan here, but I truly appreciate the enumerable things he has done for the City of Detroit and the Tigers and Red Wings. Attended a lot of Tiger games and ate a lot of Little Caesars Pizza. Tremendous loss for the people of Detroit and the sport of baseball and hockey.

He was a win at any cost type of guy. Detroit was lucky to have him.

His name will be on the new hockey arena. Being built in downtown Detroit, at his insistence.

This city will miss him. Too bad he never had a controlling interest in the Lions... (I'm not a Lions fan, but as a Browns fan, I understand their misery.. )
