I don't know if anyone else follows it, but the Ohio State Buckeyes wrestling team won the B1G Championship as a team yesterday. They had 6 of 10 weights represented in the finals and 4 B1G Champions (Tomasello-133, Bo Jordan-174, Kollin Moore-197, and Kyle Snyder - Hvy.) In the process, they upset Penn State, who was ranked as the number one dual team in the nation and just a few weeks ago won the NWCA national duals tournament over #2 Oklahoma State . Tom Ryan is doing an exceptional job at OSU, having won the B1G again and proving that they are definitely a force to be reckoned with in two weeks at the NCAA's in St. Louis. It's a good day to be a Buckeye!!

I follow high school and college wrestling. I didn't think anyone else on here did. Martin beating Nickal in the semis and Jordan beating Hall in the finals were the two matches that won it for Ohio St. Kollin Moore is a pleasant surprise too.

Is Kyle Snyder allowed to receive money from team USA events?

I don't know about Snyder Big Hoss. My son is a multiple time loser to Mark Hall and knows Bo and Micah Jordan from the Jordan camps, so we are kind of connected. Also knows Massa (174) from Michigan, and Skatzka (174) from Indiana from youth and USA wrestling. It kind of ties you into everything, over and above just loving the sport. One of his USA teammates from here is also wrestling at OSU, although he may never see a varsity match (Rehfeldt - 149 lbs.) it definitely makes it a lot of fun to follow. And this weekend, one of his teammates from Adrian is wrestling at Hvy at the D3 NCAA's. My son went 1-2 for the day of qualifying, but he moved up to 197 this year and is finding it tougher than he thought it would be.

What does OSU do with Romero next year? Redshirt? Without cutting to 165 where an opening would be unless Burcher turns it on, they have Bo, junior at 174, Martin, sophomore at 184, Moore, freshman at 197 and Snyder, junior at heavy? Plus, they have the #1 ranked Chase Singletary coming in at 220 from Blair Academy.

Good problem to have. Can Singletary make 197 and if not, he waits a year for Snyder to graduate OR Snyder takes his hiatus early to pursue it all internationally and Singletary goes to heavy. Of course, it would all depend if he can beat Moore at 197 as well...no easy task there. It's why I think we should have a light heavy classification around 230/235 in the NCAA. There are plenty of those 215/220 pound kids who could put on a few pounds lifting and make a super weight class, IMO.

Shouldn't there be a 220#, or there about, class in NCAA Wrestling? An issue of another scholarship or two? Making the dominate programs all the more dominate?

That was my point exactly WF... there should be an 11th weight class - light heavyweight if you want - at about 225-230 lbs... As it stands now, my understanding of college scholarships in wrestling, is ten. One for each weight class on a team, but most D1 teams have 30-40 guys wrestling. Has to be difficult to split all of that up and keeping kids. By the way, OSU is still in second in the early stages of round three... info can be found on Trackwrestling. Link should take you right to the open tournaments page.
