Any others out there looking to make the move too? The goal is 8-8-8 for football. Should make for some interesting discussion for those that will eventually be bumped, unless there are larger schools that fit. Fremont would not be one of them.

Not another large school I know, but geographically they fit better in the new SBC than the Blanchard Valley Conference

The article screwed up the divisions.

Danbury and Gibsonburg will be new members of the SBC - River division. Is Gibsonburg speculation or has there been an actual announcement?

Are you blind as well as ....? "The goal is 8-8-8 for football". Goal is not what you typed, it's what Martinez typed. Stupid old Douche. Why do you even care, your school isn't involved with the SBC

I took 8-8-8 from this, "The goal is 8-8-8 for football". IF the 8-8-8 goal is realized, why not 3 leagues of 8? We see your ignorant ugly mouth on more than one forum, thus how foolish of you to ask such a doltish question. Keep on trying and the dumb hole you dig will be too deep to crawl out of.

Willard.... you keep saying that "it's better when your trophy says League Champion instead of Division Champion". Well, because that is your opinion does not make it a fact. I honestly don't think that the kids care what you call it.... SBC Champs, SBC River Champs, SBC Lake Champs, SBC Bay Champs. I love this new mega-league. It offers so much flexibility and security. With so many schools changing leagues all the time, it's nice to know that even if some schools leave the SBC it can still survive.

A voice of reason. You could be right, if they make the trophies twice the size it might not matter what they say.

But we understand you can't be a stat builder with tougher competition.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but State Champ sounds better than Division "I wasn't good enough to beat schools bigger than me" State Champ. I recommend you watch the movie Hoosiers, they are remembered because they were State Champs, not some silly Division State Champ. People only remember Champions.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I just don't see the newly expanded SBC lasting long. I give it five years, tops.

But we understand you can't be a stat builder with tougher competition. Why do you continue to crack on Ontario/Coach Balogh? IMHO, the NOL never wanted to be an "elite" League, and accepted those that wouldn't dominate the traditional NOL power schools. Guess what? Ontario won at least a share of 3 titles in its 4 years. Mission accomplished for the Warriors.

Sounds like more interesting news out of Margaretta...this time with their football program. Not sure why. Timing is odd.

But we understand you can't be a stat builder with tougher competition. The Bay Division will be more difficult than the NOL??? Skip, again you prove your ignorance about this part of the country. Stick to what you know, the Left Coast. Competing wasn't an issue, being the next to smallest school in the NOL, only Bellevue and Norwalk won more league titles than Ontario in their 4 years. Ontario turned down the chance to be the largest school in the Bay Division, in favor of being a middle sized school in the MOAC. And Harding is larger than any school in the entire NEW SBC. The problem were the drives to OH, PC, Huron, Vermillion, and Edison, all further than the Marion County schools. And Galion and Clear Fork are both much closer to Ontario than all in the Bay Division.

Dumb Debbie, the discussion is about Division Titles vs League Titles. I suggest you start a thread about State Titles and how many a school has.

Unfortunately when you have fanatics posting extreme rants in support of their favorite team it brings out the ugly side in fans of other team. The truth is somewhere in between. But most of us know these talks are for fun and to pass along opinions and information others may find interesting.

I haven't been following recently. What happened to Bellevue? If you're referring to the Register article, they got the division lineups wrong. Bellevue will be in the Lake division for all sports.

Here's a good idea. With the addition of Danbury & Gibsonburg the new SBC will have 20 schools with football. There are seven small schools, they need to add one more for 8 in the River Division and that's perfect. They have five to choose from; Elmwood, Woodmore, Seneca East, Hopewell-Loudon, and even Old Fort if they are interested. Whoever says "yes" first is in.
There are 13 bigger schools. I don't think that there are 3 schools that they could talk into joining to create two more divisions of 8. But if they add 1 school they can create two divisions of 7. That gives you 3 non-league games, 6 division games, and 1 crossover game. It is easy to schedule so that the crossover game would be the biggest school in the Lake Division vs. the biggest in the Bay Division, 2nd biggest vs. 2nd biggest, etc. Fremont Ross is "too big." Maumee is the perfect size for the Lake Division but too far away. Upper Sandusky is the perfect size for the Bay Division, but is likely not interested. Would Ontario reconsider? If it's not one of those four I don't see anyone else on the map that fits into either of the two larger divisions.
