JT will move to #2 if Ohio State beats Oklahoma.
You are aware that the Heisman is for the most part a team award. Look where the teams of Heisman winners finished in polls at the end of the season. Why do you suppose a large % of Heisman winners were average at best or flops in the NFL? They just happen to be the QB or Tailback on very good teams. When in actuality it takes 100 players to have a very good TEAM. Which doesn't guarantee the Heisman individual will be All Pro in the NFL.
Heisman winners since 2000 - Chris Weinke, Eric Couch, Carson Palmer, Jason White, Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush(nullified), Troy Smith, Tim Tebow, Sam Bradford, Mark Ingram, Cam Newton, Robert Griffin III, Johnny Manziel, Jamis Winston, Derrick Henry, Lamar Jackson.
What does that tell ya?

Amazing with all the legal problems he has created for himself, Mayfield is even in the mix. Don't think the Heisman panel will vote him in, even if he has a stellar season. 'Bad boy Baker' has developed himself an image problem.

Who knows what will happen, really can't guess the odds so I've never followed that. Anything can happen. Suspensions, injurys, performance fall offs.

Who knows what will happen, really can't guess the odds so I've never followed that. Anything can happen. Suspensions, injurys, performance fall offs. That's very true, but good coaching, developing quality players and developing a quality depth chart can overcome those kinds of pit falls. Boy did we ever see that with the 2014 National Champion Buckeyes.

I want to put all my money on JT Barrett NOT winning the Heisman. Do they have a line for that? I'm guessing if they do it would be 1/100,000,000. aka to win $1 you need to put $100,000,000 down

I also do not see JT holding that trophy. What are the odds he even gets an invite to sit at the announcement?

I also do not see JT holding that trophy. What are the odds he even gets an invite to sit at the announcement? Vegas gives J.T. 17/2 odds to WIN the Heisman. If the Buckeyes win out and win the B1G, I think chances are very good, he takes home the award. No surprise Sam Darnold is the preseason favorite to win the award. He has a squeeky clean resume' and accolades as the only winner of the Archie Griffin Award as a freshman. In USC's exciting 52–49 victory over Penn State, Darnold completed 33 of 53 passes for 453 yards, while also setting Rose Bowl records in passing touchdowns (5) and total yards (473). The 453 yards recorded ranked second in the bowl's history, only trailing Danny O'Neil's 456 in the 1995 game. USC is rather famous for preseason hoopla and high expectations, to only see those expectations diminish into a forgettable season. Last years Rose Bowl win, bucked the trend. Darnold's hopes depend on team performance this year.

You're taking the 99% sure bet. The "field" versus any one entity in a race. See the Triple Crown, any NASCAR race, any golf tournament. Tell ya what. I'll let you take any player in the country to win the Heisman and I'll take the "field" for $1000. Get back to me. OH, I forgot, you choose to not read all of the words written on a thread. Your loss, everyone else's gain.

Oklahoma St at 50/1 isn't a bad bet.
I don't think their defense is good enough to win it, but I wouldn't be shocked to see them in the playoff

3 of the top 7 are Big Ten schools. And........only one SEC school. I think it's kinda cool to see Texas back into the discussions and on the edge of relevancy. Ran into a gentleman this winter, who is a big Longhorn fan and to a lesser degree, Houston fan. He said he had members of his family graduate from both. He said his family always pull for the Buckeyes, especially since Tom Herman has taken over.

Michigan State's football program takes another hit and continues to flounder.
A district court judge signed arrest warrants for Michigan State football players Josh King, Donnie Corley and Demetric Vance on Tuesday, one day after the county prosecutor announced plans to charge them with sexual assault.
Mark Dantonio has made it official, the three have been officially kicked off the team. They had been barred from campus since February.
I think of the three, losing King hurts the most, I believe he was a starting DE.

There are more reasons to be excited about this years Buckeyes than we have seen in all of Urban's tenure. You can quote me on this "JT will be one of the finalists in New York for the Heisman presentation in December". Now, you've state your opinion and I've stated mine. We'll see who's right in December.

Current odds in Vegas regarding the 2017 Heisman Trophy winner:
Sam Darnold (USC) is 5/1. Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) is 7/1. Lamar Jackson (Louisville) is 8/1. JT Barrett (THE Ohio State University) is 10/1.

sportsjock, you willing to wager.
You are going with JT Barrett being a Heisman finalist If he fails to be a finalist then you can't post about CFB during Bowl season. If he's a finalist then I can't post about CFB during Bowl season.
JT will not be a finalist. OSU will not win a NC with JT Barrett as the QB OSU will not win the Big Ten with JT Barrett as the QB - Urban only has 1 Big Ten Title in 5 tries and that was with Cardale Jones.
OSU can't win the Big Ten with a noodle arm, ball hog, inaccurate QB. JT's regressed every year so far, smart $$$ is on that trend to continue.

Not posting during college football season is too high a price......lol....for either of us.
First and foremost, JT is a leader and his leadership abilities will be a catalyst for the entire team this year. Kevin Wilson will have an immediate impact on the offense and his senior QB. He will (ONCE AGAIN) win the Big Ten 'Griese–Brees Quarterback of the Year award' for Best Quarterback in the Big Ten. I also predict he will (AGAIN) be named First Team All-Conference.

I will make the offer of a sensible wager AGAIN. I didn't hear back from you on the first offer. Since you claim to be a Heisman expert, I'll let you pick any one player to win the Heisman and I'll take the field for $1000. Are you wise enough? Is your money "smart" enough? Are you man enough? What % of the games on the 2014 schedule did Cardale win? If he had started every game he would have found a way to f-up something, it's in his genes. He REALLY f'd up when he stupidly failed to enter the draft after he won 3 games. It cost him Millions of $'s when he thought if he came back he'd win the Heisman and become a Top 5 pick. Not smart enough to know about the "Peter Principle". He proved that in 2015 when he was handed the job, but wasn't good enough to keep it and had to be replaced by a "noodle arm ball hog", after the midpoint in the season.

Bob Stoops is stepping down for retirement after 18 years as Oklahoma head coach. His replacement is no mystery, as they have been grooming Lincoln Riley for this eventuality.
This complicates matters for Urban Meyer and his staff, in preparation for the big showdown in the Shoe. New coach, only one game to scout, creates a shaky scouting report. Can't establish down & situational tendencies from only one game. Offensive and defensive approach to the game can't be too far from what Stoops established over the years, but there will be differences.

If anything this should make it easier. An all-time great Coach leaves creating an interim HC (ie Luke Fickell's disaster year). Riley has never been a HC and he's like 10 years old. Stop making excuses for JT Barrett.

I don't think Fickell's disaster was a good example, he was like a deer in headlights....lol Don't think Stoops would make the move if he didn't think Riley was fully ready to take the reins. How J.T. Barrett enters into this is beyond me. Just looking at this from a coaches perspective. Think Urban and his crew would prefer the constants of a long-term coach, opposed to someone who provides one scouting report to go on. Ten years old? Aren't there child labor laws.....lol
