The tax money doesn't win or lose games the players do. And coaches

You wanted to talk lost jobs, plants closing. BOTH mean lost tax money which DO affect schools and can affect athletics.

Tax money?
Does Mansfield have a shot at going from 7th to 1st in one season with this new coach? Will Wooster drop dramatically after the hit from graduation? Will Madison's transfer benefit them as much as Wooster's did last season? Will Stover play basketball? Will West Holmes finish above 7th?(OCC Champs in 2013-14 and finished 7th or 8th since) Will Mt Vernon as the largest school flex it's muscle in its second season? Can Ashland make it back to the top with what they return?

You've told us ad nauseum that being the "largest school" or smallest does not matter.

Cade Stover will be playing basketball for Lex. Mansfield will be better but it will be tough to get to the top of the league. As I stated before I think there are 5-6 teams who have an argument to win the the OCC this year.

I have a program from last year that said Jornell Manns was a 10th grader last year. The Sunday MNJ said Manns was going to early enroll at Minnesota in January. If that's the case, Senior loses a starter in basketball. Which is it?
Hope Stover can stay healthy. IMO he's a future NFL player. And SHOULD enroll early next year missing basketball, giving him a huge head start on a lot of playing time as a Freshman. I hope at Ohio State

Willard, program was wrong. Manns quit basketball 4 games into the season last year to run indoor track and another reason which I won't go into. He is leaving for Minnesota in January as an early enrollee. It allows him to participate in spring ball and get a jump on academics. Wants to become a travelling nurse. Great kid that got straight A's in honors classes first quarter. Great role model, unlike some of our basketball players.

I spoke with Manns over the weekend and he said he was rethinking the early departure.

And like you can see Stover in the NFL someday. While Cade's bread and butter will be football. Everything I have heard is that he loves the game of basketball and has a pretty good group coming up with him that may do some good thing on the court the next couple of seasons. He may want to see that come to fruition (sp).

Urban likes to see his recruits play multiple sports in high school, but more than that he likes the most talented of his recruits to enroll early. Getting a jump start on their Freshman year. Especially with so many of his players leaving early, he needs Freshman to play early. The Freshman who don't play in Spring Ball hurt their chances considerably.

Mansfield scrimmaged clear fork and norwalk over the weekend and it was okay. none of the teams had many tall guys.

Madison seems to have some length this year with a 6'7 Kyle Jackson, 6'4 Mason Campbell, Brown looks like he is about 6'3 and couple others that look 6'2 or taller. I think that Madison lacks guard play with Rickert at the point. He's a smart point but not a very good shooter or scorer.

On another page someone posted that Madison was handled easily by Colonel Crawford.

1. Wooster 2. Lex 3. Madison 4. Ashland 5. Mt Vernon 6. Mansfield 7. West Holmes
Just my take. What's yours?

I really think that Madison will be hurt by their guard play. Rickert would be a backup at best on most teams. Madison really only has like 3-4 kids that are good ball players. Their bench looks weak and like I said the point guard positions look weak.

That is an interesting pre-season prediction considering Wooster and Lexington lost the most from their teams last season.

Based on watching JV teams and underclassmen returning. Stover, Vore, and other youngsters got lots of PT last year. Wooster is Wooster! Senior returns everyone except Harris but have they improved? We will find out this weekend.

I'm not sure what to expect this year from the OCC. It will be interesting to see how the first few weeks go. I know on the Ashland side they lost a lot from their seniors last year. They have some really good basketball talent, but i'm not sure how that translates into a team. They will be big, have several guys over 6'5. I'm hoping by the end of the year they will be able to be a solid team.

This could be a successful bunch or it could implode.

I did not see the same starters from the 2 Mansfield games. Roster changes already?

What was the change? Maybe it was based on who they played. Was St Pete much smaller than the Toronto school?

It might have to do with setting the tone early with discipline! BTW, P J Fleck and 3 other Minn coaches in Senior again Monday twisting arms!

That's what I thought. Sykes making a point in the first game. The 2nd game was the starting lineup I expected. The single most important coaching change needed at Senior was discipline. Sykes making a point immediately, before losing control.
Besides, what difference does it make who starts? All played. I've always said, if you want to know which players are most important to, most trusted by a coach. See who is on the floor at crunch time.
