Big time... 5 star player out of Cleveland Alonzo Gaffney has committed to Ohio State. Holtmann has started out the 2019 class right.
Admittedly, I have not kept up with BB recruiting like I once did and was not that familiar with Gaffney, beyond name recognition. According to 247Sports, Gaffney — who attends Garfield Heights High School — is a 6-foot-9, 190-pound power forward, ranked #3 in his recruiting class. and #18 recruit in the nation.
My guess is, Holtmann will be hustling him into the weight room to reconfigure his physical stature ASAP. What a great start for the first recruiting class in the Holtmann era.

Holtmann pressing all the right buttons. After a few years of irrelevance, OSU hoops back front and center again in the Big Ten. I Think this program will compete as a Top 10 team going forward. I kinda feel like this staff has what it takes to win it all too.
Think next years team will be a top 25 team, 2019 team tho looks like it could be dangerous. We’ll see how the class continues to go. Holtmann is in on some other 4 stars. He is big on putting a border around Ohio and not letting them get out as well! That’ll take some time tho. Jermiah Francis 2019 point guard committed to North Carolina From Pick Central doubt he flips, but if Osu could that would be big time.

They also added transfer CJ Walker from Florida state. He won’t be able to play until two years from now from will be a solid pg for the Bucks. So they’ll have him, Gaffney as a freshman, and kaleb Wesson as a junior along with the incoming freshmen like Muhammad and Washington and Ledee. That 2019 team is looking pretty nice right now.
Gotta find that right Grad transfer fit who can help CJ at the guard spot. Be a leader, scorer and bring a veteran presence to this 2018-19 team,,which we know will be a pinch on the young side. Losing KBD and JTate will hurt,,and also Kam Williams outside shooting and Dakich brought some leadership aspects to the table as well. There is talent coming in to replace those guys, albeit Freshman.

Any speculation on Purdue's 6-10 power forward, who has announced he is transferring and will possibly have two years eligibility. Wouldn't that be great if Holtmann would get him coming to the Buckeyes?

The Buckeyes just picked up a huge commitment in DJ Carton, a 5* pg for the 2019 class to go along with Alonzo Gaffney. Carton is ranked as a top 5 pg in the class by almost all recruiting places. Holtmann is off to a great start in his first/second year.
