Reclassify means 2 things. 1 is that you go to a prep school that is actually more like a 5 year high school. The second is you are a junior and have enough credits to graduate. You do not have to go to a "prep school". For example, you can take courses in summer school that gives you enough credits to fulfill requirements to graduate at the end of your Junior year. Similar to football players having enough credits to leave early to take part in spring ball. Some schools allow you to take extra courses instead of having a study hall. In the case of basketball you must announce which graduation "class" you intend to be a part of, the "reclassifying". Didn't say you had to go to a prep school

Ohio State's new head coach Chris Holtman's recruiting philosophy.
1. Fit Our Values 2. Degree-seeking 3. Believe 100% 4. Compete in the Classroom 5. Represent Their Family and School
Nothing there about basketball skills. Obviously won't be recruiting 1 or 2 year and done players. Did Matta not embody those recruiting philosophies? Is that why his program fell on hard times? Or will Holtman never win a Big Ten Title with those being his recruiting priorities?

Holtman said at his presser one of the big challenges he was facing this year was the conditioning of the team. Said he was surprised how poorly conditioned they were, and that he hoped to be in a better position this time next year.
Was a little surprised by this revelation.

Jaedon LeDee from Texas on Tuesday and then yesterday Duane Washington(nephew of Derek Fisher). Two good additions. Lots of talk that there could be another commit coming soon, most likely from Luther Muhammad. That would be a huge pick up for the point guard spot. Another one possibly is Elijah Weaver but he seems to be trending away from Ohio State lately.
There's also a center from California, Riley Battin, that Holtmann is high on. He's around 6'9 or 6'10 and has a nice skill set, can shoot it from outside and likes to face up on the block.

Nevermind on Battin, he just committed to Utah.

Osu got 4 commitments this week. As many as some schools finish a class with. Ahrens recommitted. Reasons to be excited for Osu basketball

Any talk on Holtmann's prospects of luring any of the former Louisville recruits to Ohio State?

Everything I've been reading is it won't lure any former Louisville recruits here but it will have an impact indirectly as some of those recruits may go to places like Florida or Villanova, etc. which will then make an impact on guys like Nembherd, Ayala, Weaver who may be considering those same schools.

I'm just hoping we don't hear Ohio State's name in the news for the next few weeks

And this whole scandal shows how great it was that Ohio State had a guy like Matta who stayed away from those type of things. He probably lost out on some recruits because of these shady dealings. One of which was Kobi Simmons a couple years ago who basically was committed to Ohio State(not officially but everyone knew it) and then at the last minute chooses Arizona where he had never even taken an official visit there. And now we see one of Arizona's assistants is the one involved in this whole scandal.

I'm just hoping we don't hear Ohio State's name in the news for the next few weeks You should have no concerns in that regard. The second major scandal at Louisville under Pitino, assures his demise. His assistants are not going to go down on the Federal bribery charges, shouldering all the blame. Guess who will get fingered? Pitino has to be shaking in his shoes right now. Win, at all costs, eventually has it's price. I just read an inciteful article written by Drew Franklin. I like this particular paragraph: "When it comes to scandals, Rick Pitino is a pro's pro at weaseling his way out of accountability. After all, he has tons of practice deflecting responsibility for his actions."

One thing's for sure, if Ohio State was cheating they really sucked at it.

Here's a name to remember if you follow Ohio St hoops and recruiting. Alonzo Gaffney. A 6'9" Junior who transferred to Garfield Heights. He's a kid who is very much like Kevin Durant if I might be so bold. Getting him in the fold is critical and might be a guy that would make a team on a different level. Go to youtube and watch some highlights of him. He was at the Penn St game yesterday with a host of others.

I doubt OSU was cheating because the results were not there. What is an honest assessment of this team this year? .500?

Ohio State beat Xavier in a scrimmage at Cincinnati Saturday and offered Scoonie Penn's son a scholarship. He's in the 2020 class.

4 offers went out yesterday to recruits, one of which to Scoonie Penn's son like WF mentioned. He'll probably be the top ranked pg in Ohio in that class. Also offered 7' Zack Loveday out of Gallia Academy. I like the recruits Holtmann has been offering so far, seems like he's offering more players than Matta did(whether that's good or bad I don't know but it sure seems like he's offering more).
Like buckeyekid said, Gaffney would be huge. I'd hate to see him go out of Ohio like other big name players.

Over rated... the Scoonie's son is good but he is not now and won't be the top PG in the 2020 class. He is probably 3 or 4 in that class. Offer was due to being Scoonie's son (Scoonie is a part of the OSU staff). The best PG in the class is Matt Allocco 6'3 Hilliard Bradley. Visiting Notre Dame this Saturday. Will end up there... as did Dane Goodwin from UA. Recruiting - is a lot about the HYPE... and coaches get caught up in too!

Agree to disagree. But Penn has also visited Notre Dame and Michigan. He's overrated when he hasn't even played one game of his sophomore year yet? Ok.

Garvin Clarke way better then Penn As is Allocco As is Zeb Jackson As is Montorie Foster
Penn couldn't make the starting line-up on the best 2020 team in Ohio for the past 6 years.. The #19 kid on this list beat him out along with Allocco.
Penn took his kid to the Columbus Bulldogs 7th & 8th Last year as 9th grader - his son played for ALL-Ohio Red... weakest All-Red team in years. All-Ohio Red was the 3rd best team in Ohio 2020. Allocco out played Penn all year on that team.
Penn plays for a HS team (Dublin Coffman) that just let's him shoot it every time down the floor... He is a score first player - not a true PG and won't get much bigger.
If he goes to OSU - he will be a "flop" just like the kid from Dayton Dunbar two years ago!
Prep hoops Ohio is a very reliable HS basketball rankings site. www.prephoops.com/…/prospect-rankings/2020-rankings/There’s a lot of high school and grassroots basketball left to be played for the kids included in our 2020 Prospect Rankings. 7' Zach Loveday is a great offer. He holds an offer already from Purdue. Will get many many more offers before his Junior year.
Also, Jack Pugh 2021, 6'5 Hilliard Bradley Visiting OSU on 11/18 Probably the #1 player in Ohio in 2021 class. Brother plays Big10 football at Northwestern
Both play for #1 2020 AAU Mid Ohio Puma's Elite

Holy hell, you got something against Penn? No need to get your panties in a bunch. I'll look at offers and these players are all so young that so much can change in the next 3 years.

I viewed a video taken within the past month, that Zach introduces himself and states he is 6-10. Not a lot of big men in this Ohio class. Certainly, no low post bangers that I am aware of.
