Have these two schools ever played in week 1 before?
Perkins won last year's matchup 33-13

Perkins may not be a powerhouse this year, but Huron Tiger football has been in a downslide the last few years, and I don't see much over in Tigertown to make me think this year will be much different. The Tigers have become "kitties". Perkins by 2 TDs.

Talked to "sportsvideo" today, He thinks it's gonna be a toss up, Perkins is not the powerhouse they were, And Huron is much improved. I do know Huron is better defensively, Not sure bout our offense. Know nothing bout Perkins yet. I tend to agree with you Piratefan, Either way it's gonna be a lot of fun, Can't wait.

Huron is much improved over last year. this will be interesting i think. pirates have not been overly impressive in scrimmages against OK talent.

I think Huron will surprise people. They have decided on a starting quarterback who (in scrimmages) has made good decisions and is a good athlete. I like what I have seen so far. They are running a quick hitting, Oregon style offense that will get the most out of their talents, and should limit turnovers for a young QB. They should have a much improved running game from last year.
What are Perkins strengths? How does this team compare to last years? Players to watch?
Shouldn't matter. Tigers take the game. Tigers take the conference. Tigers take the State.

Pirate- I have no affiliation with Mr. Gncc. However, he does seem to have his ear to the ground with this Jah Leh situation and I think he provides some good insight to this site, much better than you. You haven't provided anything meaningful about your beloved Pie-rats.
Gncc- keep up the good posts. I hope you can have a word with Mr. Leh and get him straightened out. Would love to see him on the hardwood this winter.

As I predicted, the Tigers defeat the pirates. 27-21. Chris Davis player of the game. Kid is a stud. Sterret was exceptional in his first start. I think I was the only one to pick the tigers in the pick em contest??? You guys are all noobs. Tigers take conference.

Perkins got out coached. Played well for the first 8 minutes...Huron made adjustments and Perkins couldn't. Was a good hard played game. Mistakes on both sides of the ball. Sterett can run Huron's offense well... Chris Davis is hard to stop. I think he had about 12 catches for probably 175yds and 3 TDs
I also picked Huron in the pool, after seeing the Perkins/ Fremont Ross scrimmage...

Sorry dump, but Tigers are in for a rude awakening with Sandusky coming to Tigertown next week. Better make up some white flags, you'll be waving them by halftime.
I'll give the Tigers credit. They made a nice comeback, but if anybody thinks either one of these teams is anything more than mediocre, they're fooling themselves. They're both in a rebuilding mode, IMHO. It happens in high school sports. Gonna be a few down years for both schools, I'm afraid.

Disappointed, but not down about our Pirates. I am upset that our crowd was not normal. that place of ours should sell out every home game, tonight not even 3/4 full kudos to Huron who like i thought is much better than a year ago. perkins got to keep their heads up and keep fighting.
why on earth did we make them re kick? whats the logic

Wondered about that myself. We could have started with the ball on the 35, ended up starting on the 20 instead. See the above comment about "out coached" that may help explain it. Pirates need a passing game, and a defensive secondary.

Making us re kick, Was about as stupid as us NOT attempting a couple of short FG's, instead of keep going for it on 4th down which we didn't get, We have kickers, I don't get it, Guess that's why I'm not a coach. Was surprised to see the empty seats on Perkins side, And the bigger crowd on the Huron side. Huron played well, Perkins not so much. We're gonna enjoy this one, Cause some of us know we're really gonna get creamed next week with Sandusky.

Hated to see my Pirates lose, but I have some friends whose sons play for the Tigers, (great kids too), and I'm happy for them.

Quote from Ziegler in the SR this morning:
“And we made too many mistakes … too many turnovers, and too many penalties,” Ziegler added. “We’re going to learn from this and get better. There is a lot of season left. We’re going to be OK … that’s a good team we lost to tonight.”
Wow! He says the EXACT same thing year after year each time they lose. I agree with the "too many mistakes … too many turnovers, and too many penalties" part, but I'm wondering when the "we’re going to learn from this and get better" part is going to happen!

That's all that matters. As for Sandusky, they are supposed to beat Huron. They are the best team in the area by far. As long as my tigers put up a fight, I don't care how the game goes. I'm sure Huron will put up a much better fight than your dumpy *** Pirates. We will beat every team in the Bay division. Go tigers

A quick note about this game, Perkins really needs a visitor side ticket stand. The first quarter was practically over before everyone could get in, and don't say get there earlier, we arrived with 20 minutes to spare and waited for ever. Nice win for the Tigers, good luck to both teams for the rest of the season. GO TIGERS!!

The Pirates still have the old ticket booth on the visitor's (former home) side. Can't see why they don't put a couple people over there to sell tickets. Simple solution. Thanks, hhsfan90........best of luck to the Tigers this year.

The "getting better" part will happen when Z leaves. That, and when Quisno is kidnapped, brainwashed, and spends the rest of his days coaching the Pirates. Ziegler's a decent guy, don't get me wrong. When it comes to getting kids ready to win games, however, his shortcomings as a motivator become painfully clear. I won't thumb my nose at Huron tradition and toughness - I've said before that they've always been ready to hit above their weight - but at some point in the near future, Perkins should be beyond this, or it doesn't belong in the Lake Div.
