He may have made his point in getting his first league win.

Currently at the Pick north - Pick central game. wanted to check out Indiana commit Jerome Hunter once more. But man i wish ohio would input a shot clock! It would make basketball here so much better. Other stats have made the move. Ohio needs to do so.

I made a trip up to Galion on Thursday night to watch the Pleasant/Galion game. I was interested in seeing the Spartans, who I was told have been playing some good team basketball this year, and I also wanted to check out the Alsip kid from Galion. It seems that there are very different opinions among the posters on this page about how good Alsip is: some think he's the best player in the league, and some think he's a ballhog. My conclusion was that he is an excellent player, but he turns the ball over quite a bit, and he does force up a lot of bad shots. The kid is only a sophomore though, and it appears that the Galion coaching staff gives him the green light to shoot it whenever he wants. Galion actually reminds me a lot of the Pleasant teams I've seen over the past few years, as it seemed like their philosophy was to feature one guy (Maniaci then Sansotta then Craycraft) who was seemingly allowed/encouraged to take 20+ shots per game. It's fun to watch a talented player do his thing, but it can get frustrating for fans of team basketball.
I was impressed with Pleasant. They didn't score as many points as they have been scoring lately, but it does look like they're sharing the ball much better than they have in past years. The Warner kid (#10- I believe he's also the QB of the football team) might be the best player I've seen in the MOAC this year. He's 6'4 or 6'5, and he can do it all: handle the ball, rebound, block shots, shoot it from outside, and finish at the rim. There were two or three times that he got a rebound and pushed the ball up the court himself and went around his back to get by defenders before pulling up to score. I think he ended up with 20 points, and he could have scored 25 if he had made a few more free throws. The people I spoke with said that he's almost too unselfish most games, and it sometimes seems like he's not even trying to score. I was also impressed with #15 (Williams), who is a really nice athlete, and #22 (Joehlin) is one of the better defenders I've seen. He stole the ball from Alsip on each of Galion's first three possessions, and he totally shut him down for most of the night. The Kimmel kid (#2) had an off night, but I've heard that he can really shoot it when he's hot.
It doesn't seem like there are many Pleasant people posting on here, which seems odd since they used to dominate the boards back in the old JJ Huddle days. What do others who have seen Pleasant think of their chances against Harding, Clear Fork, and Ontario?

pleasant beat harding by 10 first time with bad officiating and browley didn’t play, harding has just played really bad this year. wouldn’t be surprised to see pleasant win by 20 tonight. Hardings Jv however is good tho. fillmore could probably back me up on that cause i’m sure he watched ontario harding jv. which ontario has a really good jv player.

I went to the Galion-Pleasant game as well and I was impressed with Pleasant's defense and overall effort. I don't know how their offense normally does but they did not shoot very well in the Galion game. Pleasant had a lot of open jump shots, which Galion always gives up, but Pleasant did not take advantage of it. They have good ball movement and players screening and cutting hard but they just could not make the jump shots. They were 18/38 on 2's, 2/16 on 3's and 8/16 from the FT line. They kept us in the game with that shooting performance. I don't think they will be able to beat Clear Fork or Ontario if they shoot like that. Their defense will give them a chance every game but they need to shoot better to win the conference.

MS season is almost over with tournament starting in next week or so. Got to get out and see BVs 8th grade a couple times this week play NU and Ontario. If you get a chance to get out and watch them play, do it. You don't see MS teams like this very often. BV will start tourn at home I believe and heard someone say finals were in Ontario.

Central Ohio Athletic League I thought that the league's that you guys are in for high school is the MOAC, Mid Ohio Athletic Conference. Most school's have the same name for their Jr.Hi. teams conference name as their High School's Conference?

Central Ohio Athletic League I didn’t ask what the acronym stands for. I meant why is it different than the MOAC?

^^^ It may have been named that back in the days before Marion Harding was a part of the MOAC, but their junior high teams played in this league. It's been called that for the 20 or so years I have been in the area.

Maybe when the MOAC had 2 divisions the junior high teams were played differently than the high school

That's correct. When there were 2 divisions the middle schools were divided more along the lines of geography than size. This essentially meant switching out Elgin for Galion.

Clear Fork fans have to be loving this league with all the winning. I'm sure it makes the travels a little easier.

Not according to scootyDude. He says almost everyone in the valley wants them back in the OCC, not counting the athletes and coaches of course. That's why the the OCC is voting down all new applications...waiting for CF to come back.

Please tell me what drive they are making now that is farther for them than West Holmes or Wooster. It gets even better for Clear Fork drive wise with North Union out and Shelby in.

Please tell me what drive they are making now that is farther for them than West Holmes or Wooster. From Bellville to W Holmes 30 miles to Wooster 41 miles to North Union 57 miles to Buckeye Valley 50 miles to Pleasant 43 miles Harding 35 miles to River Valley 30 miles Galion and Ontario would be similar to Mansfield, Madison, Lexington and Mt Vernon
