First quarter and I see a clean hit albeit a brutal hit by Denzel Ward... doesn't lead with the head and doesn't leave his feet. Maybe I'm missing something in the rules, but it sure seems to me that he was punished for hitting some one hard. I get the reason for the rule is to protect receivers who are in the process of catching the ball, but I saw that call as a simple matter of "you hit him too hard." Kickoffs and punts are next to go....

That was too quick of that judgement call to eject him, Although I would have like to see him finish the play, by not stopping and running the fumble into the end zone, regardless of the whistle. Then challenge the ruling on the field if we had to. But finish the play 1st.

The 'so called' targeting call on Denzel Ward in the 1st quarter was a horrendously bad call by officials. Ward led with his shoulder pad and Denzel turned his head away to avoid helmet contact, which there was none! The so-called review was a farce as well. The official runs over to the review screen, gives it a quick glance, with no hesitation, renders his confirmation. Penalizing a devastatingly good hit is a disservice to the game. We're seeing a lot of this, this year. Jack Tatum would have gotten ejected most every game, as would Butkus, Nitschke, Lanier, Taylor, Ham, Lewis, Lott, Lambert and dozens of other greats in the game....lol

Big Ten today said the targeting call should of been overturned. Yet the officials were not reprimanded or suspended for it. So basically the Big 10 said sorry, not sorry

There was nothing in the press release, but I bet there was A conference call with all Big Ten officials with a clarification
