This is what needs to happen for Willard to succeed again. We need our 6'8 leading rebounder to stop quitting the team in the middle of the season, adding Jordon Moore to this scenario from the 2015 season as well. We need our very promising PG from Junior High to stop transferring to a Boarding school in Cleveland as a freshman. You might as well add in Riley Wagner on the girls side to that as well. She's a 1st Team All State athlete down at Dublin Coffman since moving after 6th grade Those situations happened for one reason or another, and their own personal choices. But when they do happen it cripples a small school when a talented athlete like that leaves and or quits. I'm hearing he may be back, possible contract or discussion over what he needs to do to continue to play. No one ever confirmed he quit, could have been a grade issue and if so it may take a week or so to get worked out. As far as cooper goes, it would have been nice for him to have stayed but he was never going to play for Long, that bridge was burnt and not sure his mother was willing to chance Chris getting another contract. Riley, I'll agree with that one, she is a dominating force and talk about taking it to the next level, she has. She is surrounded by excellent coaching and her mother knew she had talent but she wasn't going to play for Dawson in basketball, she wasn't one of his favorites even at the 6th grade level. Her volleyball career is where she will get the D1 scholarship from. There are plenty of other great kids and athletes leaving Willard too, need to find the root cause and try and stop the bleeding.

Money, I hope you are correct on the BB situation. The kid and the WHS team need each other I am guessing. CP would make an enormous difference if he was still here. Regarding RW, I was not aware of any inter coaching parents squabbles and I don't want to go there,,I'm strictly looking at the "what if" and I am pretty sure our VB team was State bound if she's playing at WHS instead of DC where she has been to State 3 years in a row at D1,,and she does in fact have a D1 scholarship to Hawaii for her college future plans. Good chance she will be a HS All American next year as a Senior at DC. I don't want to take this message board thread down the path that has been going on for weeks on end. That drama needs to stay on those threads if you guys want to keep discussing it. That's here say not really affecting everyone reading this Bay Division thread.

Vermilion loses at Elyria on a last second basket, 65-63. Sailors were down 14 with less than 4 minutes to go and roared back to tie it up before losing the ball with 8 seconds left on a bogus illegal screen offensive foul call. Tough loss against a tough team, but a good test and one to grow on. I'm sure there was some Willard-related drama involved too, but haven't figured out exactly what yet. Yeah, playing at Elyria is a tough one, nice battle by the sailors. My son played for Vermilion and it was always tough when they had to go play Elyria, Lorain, Lakewood, Avon, Bay etc.. Coach Habermehl does a great job with those boys. Oh and thanks a lot getting the Willard drama fired up again.

Vermilion is very lucky to have Coach Habermehl in many ways. And apologies for stirring up the Willard drama for no good reason. So much for a thrown-in tongue-in-cheek comment. Aren't there like seven other threads out there to vent about Willard?

I just moved most of the latest string of Willard coaching/administration/etc drama posts into the "Willard" thread (which was also created by moving posts out of this one) For future reference can we please keep those type of posts on that new thread and leave this one to be for basic basketball talk about the Bay Division at large.

The way I see the Vermilion vs. Oak Harbor game is that it's a toss up. Vermilion is a very good team and their record proves it but the game is being played at Oak Harbor and they have been playing good ball to. If I had to choose a winner, I would pick Vermilion but by a point and no more than 4. The rest I would say Bellevue over Edison since Bellevue is the home team and Edison is in a slide. The others I think it's Huron over Port Clinton and Margaretta over Willard.

Vermilion 55, Oak Harbor 38 before a packed house at OH. Congrats to Joby Pfeil for reaching the 1,000 career point mark late in the game, and a very classy gesture by the OH fans as they joined the large Sailor contingent in a standing ovation.
Sailors now 11-2 with a stranglehold on the SBC lead and host backyard rival Firelands on Tuesday, Margaretta on Thursday, then travel to Perkins on Saturday and Elyria Catholic next Tues.

Vermilion will be right where they belong starting in 2019 - the Lake Division. They will compete nicely in most sports.

It’s where they should have been originally based on enrollment but an exception was made for them and Shelby. With Shelby leaving, the Lake will stay at 7 schools and Bay 6 by Vermilion moving up. The conference believes it’s easier for Bay than Lake to be at six because the Bay can play Lake or River schools. River’s aren’t likely to play many, if any, Lake schools.
Yes - it’s already been approved for them to move to the Lake in 2019. They can appeal but it appears unlikely there is solid reasoning to keep them in Bay. They will remain in Bay for football.
This is in reference to basketball, volleyball, baseball/softball, etc.

I think Norwalk will win this one because they are starting to firer on all cylinders and for some reason Huron isn't clicking at all. They have the players and the coach but it's not working. Margaretta is better than Tiffin so I will pick them by how much that I don't know. They can score big but at times they struggle and Tiffin, I can't remember the last time they had a winning season. Basketball just isn't their thing. Oak Harbor is hurting after last night so they are going to come out fighting MAD and they will show Eastwood the road out of town. It will be a battle but in the end Oak Harbor will win for pride. Perkins has to much for Port Clinton to handle and will take them to the house for a big whipping. Port Clinton had their win for the year. Well that's my take, what do you think will happen.

Agree Norwalk over Huron, potentially big as I don’t think they have a kid in the gym who can guard Haraway. Agree Margaretta over Tiffin. Bears starting to find themselves a bit and Tiffin is heading the opposite direction. I have Eastwood over Oak Harbor. Eastwood is very good, and I think they get it done tonight in a tight one. Agree Perkins over P.C. big.

Chandler, I haven't checked Eastwood record in a while but what is it. You really think that they would win in Oak Harbors house? It sounds like this is the game that we all should be at.
