Seen in the Dailey Rag that Upper stayed in house and hired 10 year assistant coach Russell Hall as new coach. Good for him but question the decision by the board. New blood probably should have been the route. Oh well I am sure this makes the rest of the n10 schools happy. If Upper ever gets a decent program running, then will be the time to drive them out. Until then....

Good luck to the new coach! Do you think that he will be able to increase participation in the football program, particularly at the intermediate and Jv level?

No excitement from Upper fans over the new coach?

I'm guessing that they already know what to expect. Although, In my opinion the talent on the field determines how good or bad a high school coach is in 90% of the programs.

Gotta have bodies to fill uniforms in order to have any talent. Sad when soccer is bigger than football. More numbers out for it than football last year.

Upper roster on the N10 web site lists 56 players 9-12. Quite an increase from last year. New coach must be doing something right.

Just having a lot of kids standing on the sideline doesn't do it. Upper soccer might not be what you think it is. They lost 8-0 to Ontario in a scrimmage.

So, are you saying that the 20+ additional kids they got to come out this year should just go back to their video games and not waste the coaches time because there is no talent among them for the coaches to develope?

Soccer team graduated talent last year and kids that played soccer last year instead of football are out for foosball. Also see big hoss comment on the football team canceling the jamboree scrimmage due to outbreak. It also has run its course with the soccer team too. Sorry to say you boasting of a 8-0 drubbing of Uppers soccer team was with 6 varsity players out with complications of hand foot and mouth disease..might not of made much of a difference but having starting goalie and 3 other starters out could not have helped.

Heard Upper’s scrimmage has been canceled due to an outbreak within the team That is correct. And it has been also running through several of the other sports as well. Football team was quarantined for 3-5 days. And weight room is closed til Monday for cleaning and disinfecting.

My grandson didn't know about the communicable diseases. If his mother did, she probably wouldn't have let him to play. She's funny about diseases like that. If the crud hadn't been kept, I wouldn't have mentioned the score.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!! I'm all in favor of having DOZENS of non-players on the sideline supporting the kids who play. That's how it used to be, not so much these days.
