The issue passed with 65% of voting member support. Effective immediately.

OHSAA shows the vote was 450 in favor and 244 against. So over 100 schools did not vote.

This isn't an issue for every school in the state or even a "hot-topic". 86% of the high schools submitted a vote. I think that's pretty dang good. In addition, those votes wouldn't have mattered either way.

In addition, those votes wouldn't have mattered either way. Those 100 schools are about to be fined... If you don't send your vote in, you are fined. They will wish they had spoken their minds... Which is why most ADs and Principals do it right away and get it in the mail. no one wants the fine.

The fine is only for not returning your ballot. You do not have to vote. From what I've read on OHSAA I would assume " received" means that so it appears only three did not vote for this issue. If that's the case, yes - there will be some fines going out to those schools. Would be interested in knowing why they didn't return their ballots. Spring is busy but c'mon. At least return it.

That would mean 112 schools did not submit a ballot and would be subject to a fine.

Was it a secret ballot or is there a report that says what schools voted for or against? If there's such a report, the fine might be less painful for some.

Forget the fine, don't send them a ballot next time.
