Once again I'll be posting one of these threads each week with the schedule and standings that can also be used for discussion and score updates for any SBC games that don't end up with their own individual threads. As for individual game threads, I'll start several each week, and anyone else can feel free to start one for any game I leave out.
Week 1 Schedule:
Thursday: Margaretta vs. Seneca East (at Bellevue) Mansfield Madison @ Shelby
Friday: Bellevue @ Canton Central Catholic Elida @ Tiffin Columbian Mansfield Senior @ Norwalk Perkins @ Huron Port Clinton @ Sandusky Toledo Start @ Clyde Edison @ Oberlin Firelands Fostoria @ Oak Harbor Vermilion @ Oberlin Cardinal Stritch @ SJCC Danbury @ Vanlue Elmwood @ Gibsonburg Mohawk @ Lakota South Central @ Willard
Saturday: Monroeville @ Calvert St Paul @ SMCC

Perkins at Huron should be a closely contested game...
I’m really curious about the Norwalk v Mansfield game... I heard Norwalk looked very good in scrimmage against Olmsted Falls, Shelby, and Perkins.

I think Huron will probably walk all over Perkins. The Norwalk vs Mansfield game will give a fan a view of what Norwalk could possibly do to a Sandusky team without Alexander, remember the game was very close last year 17-14. Norwalk has gained a couple of players that could make a significant difference since then. This will put them in Clyde’s crosshairs as the team they need to beat for the SBC championship.

They did scrimmage Olmsted Falls and Genoa so far.

The Castalia tornado around Nov.7, 2017. Drove by Margaretta stadium today. It's been 9 months, and still no bleachers, on either side, just flat ground. What is going on ?

perkins issue will be depth, injuries, and conditioning, they don't have a ton of guys, but they seem to be better than last year from what I have heard

Clyde's crosshairs? Is Clyde bringing back a lot this year? Only thing I've heard about Clyde is they lost two very good coach's. Did they not loose much talent from last year? Just curious, what starting positions do they have to fill?

Just curious, what starting positions do they have to fill? Ray Long leaving may not be all it’s hyped up to be. As KingMartinez pointed out Ray’s defense “held” Bellevue to 99 points in the last 2 years. Not sure what Matt did, but this was old news and I’m sure the remaining coaching staff filled these voids well before last school year let out. Clyde should be the team to beat this year in the lake. The question you should be asking (and the one I’m asking myself), is how the heck did I expect Norwalk to compete with Clyde or Sandusky after such a poor showing yesterday at Huron. Not sure what happened, or if the varsity got limited time due to the weather, but I expected they should have handled Huron better than they did.

exactly what part of the game did they handle huron? and what part of the game should they have handled Huron? probably one thing that stands out is discipline, way way too many penalties esp on defense. jump offsides on a 4th and 2 grab a receiver in the endzone when the ball was sailing out of bounds anyways. just alot of silly mistakes, that are all correctable of course.. thats why we scrimmage...

Just reading the football preview tonight, and Ziegler says the problem with Perkins last year was turnovers. Well imagine that. Funny how he railroaded the only back with 40+ carries last year and zero turnovers out of the program. Not only zero fumbles, (that’s fumbles where possession is maintained or turnovers) but zero fumbles since 7th grade (where he had one). Funny how he had to consult coaches all the way from Columbus and Cincinnati on creating team chemistry, I told him the same thing when he walked across the street. Happy to see some new blood on that coaching staff with Capizzi, Crabtree, Oddo, and Musser. Hopefully one of them will stick around long enough to replace this current simpleton.
