This is the 2nd straight year these long time SBC foes have faced each other in a week 1 crossover matchup. Huron won last year's game 27-21.

This game is going to boil down to one thing, who can control the line of scrimmage, especially when the Perkins offense is on the field. The O-line will have to give QB Smith time to get the ball down field to WR’s, especially to Clinton, who has the best hands out of the bunch. They will also need to get WR/RB Hunter in the open field, and open holes for FB Jackson as well. They will come to play. Last years game at Perkins was close, home field advantage will go to Huron this year. Perkins looks as if they are trying out some new offensive formations, so it will be interesting to see how that pans out.

I voted for Yuron, but I pick the tigers 35-14. For some reason I thought what Hunter could do if he was playing for one of the better teams in the league with that speed and athleticism.

Been wondering the same about Hunter and a couple others. Hunter has been on the the sidelines on Friday nights for the most part for the last 2 years. But then again we are talking about the same coaching staff who sat Dale Irby his sophomore year. After Quiz stepped in and inserted him into the offense he got his chance on Friday nights.

Not sure how Perkins has looked in their scrimmages, but I have been very impressed by the Tigers.
Both sides of the ball looked much improved from last year. Sterett looks like he has made some strides with his decision making and seems more confident behind center.
The Tigers have some good size from their receivers and should be able to throw the ball successfully against much of the league.
Martin, Brown, Elder, and Scroggins looked solid on defense. The O/D lines both looked much improved.
Hinckley was the surprise of the night for me. With him running the ball, the Tigers should have an added dimension this year. He had two or three long runs for the Tigers.
I expect the Tigers to wee wee on the Pirates this Friday. Ziegler will have to break out all the Molly Water in Erie County for the Pirates to even stand a chance.
35-7 Tigers.
GO Tigers

Final: Huron 31 Perkins 7. Was 10-0 Tigers after 1, 31-0 at the half, Running clock to start the 2nd half. Pirates JV's scored on Tigers JV's late. Perkins looked awful. Play calling was too simple, and too easy to figure out. Pirates looked very unorganized, and undisciplined. The 2 Qb's system didn't work. Huron looked very good, especially defensively.

PirateFan, look to the west. May is still at OH after years of horrible coaching.

PirateFan, look to the west. May is still at OH after years of horrible coaching. . Yeah well Mays numbers haven’t dropped like Perkins. 280 boys in the high school and next year we will barely have enough for a varsity team. Small town Huron has nearly double the numbers. Besides the play calls the way he handles our athletes, I have no use for!!

Ziegler seems to be a decent guy. I'm sure he wants the Pirates to be successful......but.....he's not "head coach" material.
I know a little bit about cars. I can change your oil, spark plugs, fix flat tires, etc. but if you wanted me to rebuild your engine, I'd be in trouble and have the thing messed up in no time flat. Then you'd need someone with the knowledge to step in and fix what I screwed up. I meant well, I didn't want to cause more problems, but I just didn't have the experience to do the job right. I'd be honest enough to admit that I need to turn the job over to someone who knew better than I what they were doing.
^^^^^^That's where the Perkins football program is right now. It's a mess. Ziegler should just hand over the reins to someone who can turn this thing around. WHO? Well, if I were the Perkins AD, I'd be on the phone THIS MORNING searching.
Before someone says "why don't YOU try coaching if think you're so smart"? That's just it. I'm not a football coach. Don't claim to be, but I don't have to be a great singer to know when someone else can't sing, or a great musician to know when someone can't play an instrument. And neither do I have to a great coach to know when someone else can't coach.

May's numbers have dropped dramatically during his tenure. No winning season for Oak Harbor since 2012. Is Perkins in that boat yet ?? I figured Perkins would drop after Quisno left just like OH. May was lucky to have very talented classes in 10, 11, and 12 or he would not have any winning seasons. Seems Ziggy is much the same.

Go to the board, or principal, or Ziegler himself? LOL....right. I'm one old Pirate fan who knows how the "system" at PHS works. I may as well go talk to a wall in the high school. I'd probably get further that way. First of all, I doubt that they would even give me the time to listen to anything I had to say. And do you think that if I went straight to Ziegler and talked to him personally, he would say "gee, you're right! I'll resign today!" Besides, should it be the responsibility of the Pirate fan base to point out the OBVIOUS to the administration? Do you not think they should know there's a problem all by themselves by just watching the team? BTW, This forum is for people to discuss, share, vent, whatever.....that's what I did, and what I will continue to do. You are free to ignore my posts if they bother you that much.

I think Perkins is probably a better team then how they played last night. When you start the game off with a miss snap on a punt then are able to only punt it 18 yards or so, that kinda puts you behind the 8 ball to start. I thought Drew Sterett executed the game plan to a T. His reads were excellent and outside of a couple throws that got away from him, he was in a zone. Just one of those back yard rivalries where anything can happen.. Now on to that juggernaut at strobel field.. we will have to have the A+ game...

ahh is Perkins going to continue to downward spiral? btw, they have some good size and athleticism, why can't they put it together? Also, I haven't seen Huron yet, but are they that good? I still think Shelby handles everyone in the Bay, but maybe Huron can give them a game

Imagine being this sensitive about someone else making valid complaints about their own coach when your team has a past like Port Clinton's. Wew.
