If it's the head coach this person is referring too, he/she is wrong. The coach was NEVER criminally charged and in fact, posting as such here is a libelous statement for all to see. locallegend may want to seriously think about backtracking here.

A civil lawsuit is not the same as a criminal charge. And if you'd do a little more research, you'd also know the coach was dismissed from the lawsuit. Again, you may want to backtrack and/or delete this.

He was “Allegedly” involved and later “Dismissed” from the case. Not convicted of anything.

Once again it boils down to some parent mad about their kids playing time. And why is it always Willard people starting these ridiculous threads?

Local legend I truly want you to message me and we can solve this whole problem. I would love to have a “conversation” with you in person to solve this as you continue to think you can come on here and say whatever you want to say on this forum! Coach Devier is a dear friend of mine who I’m not gonna allow someone to come on here and talk negatively about. So again if you would like to message me maybe we can meet somewhere in willard and I’d be glad to see if you can walk the walk cause you sure think you can talk the talk

"The suit said the boy’s injuries are permanent and that because of the coaches’ misconduct, their son “will require additional and costly long-term medical care and treatment.”
I love how you guys defend Devier but have nothing to say about the victim... The head coach is responsible. He may not have initiated the exercise, but he was overseeing practice and is responsible. Maybe he's not as guilty as Todd Bringman, but he still bears some responsibility. And why in the heck were the players in full pads with as hot as it was?

Why the f*ck is this thread still up and this subject being talked about? Because the man is a criminal.

Why the f*ck is this thread still up and this subject being talked about? Because the man is a criminal. Your son probably isn’t playing as much as you’d like because he just isn’t good enough.

Maybe he's not as guilty as Todd Bringman, but he still bears some responsibility. And why in the heck were the players in full pads with as hot as it was? I certainly hope that you are intelligent enough to know that for a very minimal administrative filing fee anyone can bring a civil lawsuit against anyone for anything. Having dug into the court documents I found some interesting facts. The “permanently injured” players parents were contacted by the athletic trainer and did not want the EMT called. The "permanently injured" young man remained on the team the entire season along with his older brother. The “permanently injured” player was at every game with the team. The “permanently injured” player graduated high school, got his drivers license, went on to post-secondary training and, to my knowledge, is a perfectly functioning adult with no ill effects from his “injury”. The harsh language in the lawsuit, written by an ambulance chasing attorney, is there to shock and awe the layman to play on emotion. This is common practice in civil litigation. It is also interesting to know that there was no medical evidence that this “permanently injured” player ever had a concussion. He scored a 16/16, perfect, on the concussion protocol test at the emergency room. The “permanently injured” player was sent to school by his parents sick and on antibiotics they day of the alleged incident. Could he have been dehydrated? Additionally, during the lawsuit proceedings the “permanently injured” player was found to be malingering. For anyone unfamiliar with this situation from 2013, investigations were done by the following agencies with no wrong doing found by the coaches or school: Woodmore Local Schools, Sandusky County Children’s Services, Elmore Police, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Ohio Attorney General, Ohio Department of Education. Ultimately the individuals were dismissed with prejudice from the lawsuit. In the world of sensationalism this is another example of how quickly things can get twisted in the media. LL I suggest you do some further reading into this matter before you continue your libel posts.

I appears, according to the Ohio Attorney General, that full pads and the practice procedures of that day were within the OHSAA regulations.
