Congrats to Norwalk on their fine season! To advance to this point, its more players, than coaching. Look at Norwalk - Big ten O-Lineman, MAC D-End, D2 Basketball player who could be a D1 Football recruit, RB who is a D2 back, and quite possibly 3-4 state placers in wrestling that play on defense. The first three, who didn't even play for the football for Norwalk last year, certainly makes them the team they are. Take away the two transfers and the in school recruit, and they are 5-5, if that. yes, they make THAT much of difference. Clearly a Mac supporter or a teacher who dressed in opposing colors or an ex coach or all of the above. We get it, your guy is gone. This coach got more out of the same bunch of kids. This coach respects his players. The incident you mention is such a poor reflection on those individuals. Sounds as they were part of the problem and still are too ignorant to understand that and continue to be the problem. If I was a kid and saw that, it would take a lot to not laugh in their face. I don't believe I have stooped to that level at all.

Let that one go; it's old clucking news. At any rate, I have to believe more kids will come out next season. And dare I wonder, how many will go from E Main to Shady Lane?

So you're telling me that this team would have made it this far if Mac was still coach? I don't think so. Those years with Turner as the lead back had better talent on them then this year's team, IMO. Norwalk football would have made plenty of playoff runs in those years if this current coaching staff was there. I'm not trying to take away anything from this year's team, they did a great job and certainly earned what they got, but coaching at this level still does make a bit of a difference. First off MacFarland, would of never gotten Haraway out like Coach Fox did. And I seriously doubt that the boys from Monroeville would of come if Mac was still coach. So coaching goes beyond the field - way beyond X's and O's. Fox has a done great job building a relationship with St Paul, with in the school, and the community of NHS as well. Maybe it will lead to fixing the worst stadium/facility (outside of Shelby) in North Central Ohio, especially for school and community the size of Norwalk. Fox is so much more of a better coach not even close so the comparisons should stop because there is none. Norwalk was the sleeping giant in the area (like Perkins is now). Many parts were in place coming in (returning starters, especially on Defense) then you add in Haraway and the Big Boys, you have a winning combination. Difference between 5-5 and a final four team. There really is no argument at all. Add Fox into that mix, this is what you get. It would be scary what Nasonti, Carter, Lutz, or Fox could do at Sandusky with those athletes. Sandusky is soo poorly coached/led its simply unbelievable. Never took anything away from Norwalk - there is no mega giant in this region and could of been any of the SBC schools that came out on top. Norwalk, Sandusky, Clyde or Tiffin and I think no one could argue that especially when you review the regular season weeks 6-10. Central Catholic going up, Glenville being ineligible also helped big time - all the stars lining up. Although not popular opinion, I believe you have hit a lot of nails on the head with this analysis.

Will be in playoffs again next year if kids work hard. I thought last nights game was fantastic. I enjoyed watching that game more than the Buckeyes. I think Chapin will be a D1 qb prospect if he continues to work hard. It was a physical game that could of went either way. I was impressed on how the secondary tackled stewart. I was impressed how well Sandusky played on the d-line, especially with the freshman playing the whole game. If I could of done things differently, I would have used the short passing game more for Sandusky or a simple slant across the middle of the field. The senior stewart is a very good receiver and I feel like he was only used for the homerun ball. He needed to get the ball on a few slants and allowed to run on a more open field. Norwalk made the plays when they had too, I think these two teams could meet again next year in the playoffs as Sandusky returns 80% of their team and Norwalk about 70% of their team.

Stadium issues as mentioned in a previous post,,when I drive by it does make you wonder why Norwalk hasn't put any money into upgrading? I'm guessing after this season the drumbeat for that might be a little more intense. I would think a town like Norwalk could handle it financially as they seem to have a number of large businesses that would probably help cover the cost.

It is my understanding, someone correct me please if I'm wrong, that Fisher Titus has been approached but wanted no part of naming rights. Then there's the issue of some businesses having Catholic connections and the continued pi$$ing match between the 2 schools and control of the venue. It only makes sense with 2 schools using the field and the wear and tear it takes.

Oh I see the SBC declared Vermilion is Willard's rival and week 10 opponent. Have Vermilion and Willard ever even played a football game vs each other? it's a rivalry though the SBC declared it.

You're just the two left over teams after the four teams in the Bay who actually do have rivalries get paired up. Similar situation with Norwalk and Columbian getting paired up (though at least those two have over 70 years of history)

The idea of a new stadium across the street from the high school has come and gone. It's now clear that any chance at a better facility will need to happen at Whitney, in partnership (at least politically) with St. Paul. From what I've gathered, it sounds like next season or the following could be realistic (turf).

He moved the JV and freshmen games to Whitney, and has worked with Coach Livengood to rebuild a positive relationship between the two schools. I think with these two coaches leading the charge, we will definitely see some changes for the better at the field. Again, thank you Norwalk Board of Education for making this hire! Coach Fox is an outstanding person, educator, and coach!

Looking at Willard's schedule next year they are playing the same rotation that Shelby did.

Only thing that could make sense is flipping Edison and Vermilion - Vermilion play Huron week 10 - though both Edison and Vermilion would be considered Rivals for Huron. Other than that Willarddad, maybe you can ask Joe Crawford...

You guys are having a amazing year and best of luck in next few weeks. You guys have a fine sophomore qb who will probably go D 1 if he keeps it up.Coach fox is doing a great job for you guys.... Go make the SBC and ABC lake proud to win state!!
