I've had the pleasure of following the IMG Ascendor basketball team this winter. Incredible talent and incredible depth.
They have 3 McDonald All-Americans, first time in high school basketball history, with 3 McDonald All-Americans on the same team. 6-6 SG/SF Josh Green - Arizona (Josh is a phenominal Basketball player and is from Sydney, Australia. I have zero doubt he will become All-American at Arizona) 6-9 PF Jeremiah Robinson Earl - Villanova 6-10 C Armando Bacot Jr. - North Carolina
The incredible thing is, they lose three All-Americans, but have several that should achieve the same status next season. 6-1 G (Jr.)Noah Farakhan is perhaps the top prospect in the country at his position. 6-9 F (So.) Brandon Huntley-Hatfield is a top recruited prospect 6-8 F (Jr.) Mickael Brown Jones 7-1 C (Fr.) is newly arrived and not listed on the roster yet...lol He got in the last two games.
This years team finished 27-1, won several national invitational tournaments and defeated several nationally recognized teams, including Oak Hill Academy Mouth of Wilson. They threw down 25 dunks in their next to last game in a 55 point win. I have been sitting with and became friends with a UCLA scout and my buddy is a former coach in Indiana, who is a scout for Indiana State.
The best part? All home games are FREE!

Man, that sounds really cool and what a great idea. Certainly, IMG will part of that tournament. I think you meant 'end of the season' and not 'end of the year'. I will inquire about that at IMG.

Yep! It's the Geico High School National Championship Tournament in NYC. It's April 4-6th. The 8 team bracketing hasn't been announced yet. I'm not absolutely certain, but I believe the new 7 footer at IMG is Chet Holmgren. If not, they would pass for identical twins...lol Thanks for the heads-up!

For a public school to just get a invite to that event is quite impressive

And all of these players will be represented by IMG Sports Management Co. when they play professionally. Sure seems like there should be a huge NCAA violation somewhere. Recruit these kids to their high school from all over the world. Give them free tuition, room and board, a value of 60K/year. Place them in the college of their choice for a year or two. Then represent them when they go pro.

Then represent them when they go pro. Not so sure 'free' is to the extent that you describe, but certainly understandable why they and their parents have opted for the finest facilities, coaches and academic curriculum available anywhere in the world. IMG involvement officially ends when they arrive on the college campus of choice. It is widely recognized that pro golfers, NBA ballers, NFL players, pro tennis, pro soccer players, routinely visit IMG in their off seasons to get a critical analysis of technique and hone and adjust their game. It is especially the case with PGA, LPGA and ATP and WTA players. The top names of game, come in and out of this place on a frequent basis. I've had the pleasure to meet both the Williams sisters and talked with Maria Sharapova on a number of occasions, since her permanent residence is not far from the Academy and is in and out quite regularly. Nick Bollettieri is the guy that started it all when he opened the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in 1978 on 40 acres, that grew and evolved into the 580 acre, present day IMG Academy. He is still an active instructor and mentor. Some of his past students are Andre Agassi, Jim Courier, Monica Seles, Mary Pierce, Maria Sharapova, Daniela Hantuchová, Jelena Janković, Nicole Vaidišová, Sabine Lisicki, Sara Errani, Tommy Haas, Max Mirnyi, Xavier Malisse, Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Martina Hingis, Anna Kournikova, Marcelo Ríos, Kei Nishikori, and Boris Becker. He is amazing shape for 88 years old and maintains an active and busy schedule. Last saw him and his wife at the Beach Bistro two weeks ago. Nick has lived on Long Boat Key for well over 40 years.

How many of those young athlete's families could afford IMG without them being given scholarships?
You're naive if you think that IMG hasn't been implanted in their psyche after spending several years on their campus. The best way to impress people is to get them when they're young.

My God SOH you really need to have argument about a school in Florida? All he did was give a list players and you have to come up with a way to complain about it. Are you upset you didn’t send Nate to a better school?

bighose, if you've paid attention and had a memory of any worth. You would know the "list of players" is immaterial. For YEARS, I've questioned why would IMG Sports Management spend a billion dollars on a private school for high school athletes? I'm not in the camp they've done it out of the kindness of their heart. IMO the NCAA should take a hard look at it. We all know the NCAA does not allow college athletes to have agents. IMG is walking very close to that line, if not crossing it.

IMG is walking very close to that line, if not crossing it. I can assure you with absolute certainty, IMG is in full compliance with NCAA guidelines and rules. It's apparent, you have little idea what this magnificent sports enterprise encompasses. It all started in 1972 with the 40 acre Bollettieri Tennis Academy and grew from there. High school training and academics is just one part of the overall offerings. It starts with young athletes as young a s 12-13 and the process takes them through their senior year. It doesn't stop there. The most notable and famous pro athletes from around the world, are coming and going on a regular basis. Pro golfers and pro tennis personalities stop in during the off season for personal training and instruction to keep their game sharp and make correctable changes where needed. They have their choice of the 50 courts and the tournament caliber 18 hole golf course and lighted driving range. I have seen this campus evolve from the original 40 acres to a sprawling, impeccably maintained 580 acres that are all enclosed, gated and secured. They provide housing from athletic dorms, to luxury apartments, to condos and just completed and dedicated a new, 6 story luxury hotel. From entry level youngsters to the most discriminating pro athlete, they have total accommodations to meet and please their needs. The other night, walking to the basketball game, we passed dozens of the 50 lighted tennis courts in every direction. Athletes were a enjoying leisurely evening in the 74 degree breezes, on the courts. When we left, we walked through 3 different buildings with BB courts and then we stepped into one weight training facility, they have two 10,000 square ft. weight training buildings, as nice as any college facility in the country. There are 6 practice baseball fields joined in a six-plex, a state of the art baseball stadium, 16 practice mounds, 4 indoor batting cages and 12 outdoor batting cages, including 2 Hit Trax machines and an EON augmented Reality. The softball facilities are on par with the baseball offerings. Their are dozens of soccer and lacrosse fields. IMG football stadium is a professional quality 5,000 seat stadium with luxury suites, upgraded club seating, advanced jumbotron system, that serves their football, lacrosse, soccer and track and field programs. They have a large brick building for sports medicine and another building for sports science, it's 4 stories tall and I have no idea what goes on in there. There are an entire fleet of full size, short busses and vans to transport athletes to shopping, restaurants, churches and team sporting events. Seeing this place evolve over the years boggles the imagination, one can only dream what it will be like tens years from now.

No offense intended, but maybe you are to young to see the irony, so I will explain. I remember Americans in the 1960's and 70's complaining that it was hard to compete with the Soviets and other eastern block countries in the Olympics because their athletes were trained from an early age into adulthood in institutions of "education" similar to what you describe as what IMG does. Of course, when they became adults but were still at those institutions, they were not professionals since those countries did not have professional sports.

It's apparent, you have little idea what this magnificent sports enterprise encompasses. . I am well versed what IMG SPORTS Academy is. I have researched and read all I can find on what it is about and all it offers. I've talked to an individual, like you, who's had a guided tour. Again, WHY would IMG, that is first a foremost a Professional athlete management company, spend a billion dollars on high school athletes? A public service?? LOL Not just any athletes, but those IMG deems to most likely become professional athletes are the ones they're interested in. WHY?? Any parent can send a kid there, even if they're only average athletes, but they have to spend up to $75,000/year to do it. WHY?? It's interesting that the tuition varies, by the sport you play. The sports in which Pro athletes make the most money have the highest tuition. WHY?? Top athletes get recruited and receive ATHLETIC "scholarships" to go there. WHY?? How many of the great basketball players you saw play and you listed above have parents that can afford $75,000/year?? Did you ask them? Did you ask your tour guide? This is not primarily an academic institution, not saying there aren't good students there, but if you go to their website and READ you will see that the description used for the kids that attend there is "student athlete". What % of kids at standard public or private schools are "student athletes"? IMG considers ALL that attend their school "student athletes". Answer this question. WHY are these sports, that ARE offered at all or most high schools in this country NOT offered at IMG? Wrestling, Bowling, Cross Country, Field Hockey, Gymnastics, Softball, Swimming. Very easy answer. There are no or very little Professional money available in these sports. THUS, IMG Sports Management Company is not interested in those sports OR the athletes that participate in those sports. What you failed to tell us about your tour. How many times did you see this.... IMG ....on you tour? WHY?? Subliminal messaging? If you're successful in your years at IMG due to the great instruction, facilities and competition, wouldn't you be appreciative and have them on the top of your list when looking for a sports agent?

I understand what you are saying, again...no relevant correlation. IMG fully understands their disparity from your average high school sports program and in no way, do they put themselves in that position. IMG is not a member of the FHSAA, understanding they are a unique niche. They don't compete in district or state post season tournaments or are recognized in state rankings. They do schedule and play many of the better schools in Florida, in the various sports. By in large, they play a national schedule, against the elite programs nationwide. Fact is, there is a waiting list of potential enrollees and interested candidates. Students of IMG receive every conceivable enhancement imaginable. The benefits are huge: Total college prep curriculum, an academic environment devoid of distractions, focus on dietary needs, a daily fitness regimen, the finest coaches and instructors the nation has to offer, personal one on one instruction, competing with and against superior athletes on an individual and team basis, increased exposure to colleges and coaches on a national scale and all of it is taking place in the finest facilities in the country.

One thing that immediately stands out when you view your first IMG basketball game, there is no game announcer (no introduction of starting lineups), no National Anthem, no cheerleaders, no game programs or concession stands. I've seen IMG play some the top teams in the country there and the games are conducted in a low key fashion, very much like a game scrimmage. The only commonality with your average high school game is the scorekeeper, scoreboard and the game officials. Essentially, you see the same approach for their home football games.

It would significantly bother me if there was no National Anthem, but it would be logical that IMG Sports Management Company does not want to play one. That could PO a potential Pro athlete and potential CLIENT, that could potentially be another Colin Kaepernick. There are no cheerleaders, because there is very little money to be made by cheerleaders after college, thus IMG has no interest in them or what they do. If there are no programs how did you know the names and heights of the players you listed above that are on the basketball team? I could see why IMG would not want programs, they would not want other Sports Management Companies to learn any easy information about their potential Pro athlete clients. Concession stands do nothing to improve the potential Pro Athletes at IMG Other than the top athletes they recruit and give scholarships to in hopes they become professionals and sign with them, they want to remain as low a profile as possible.

Viewed my first IMG game of the season and it is basically a totally different team from the 2019 National Championship team, that featured 3 McDonald All-Americans. Those players are now wearing Duke, Villanova and Arizona uniforms.
IMG threw down 21 dunks in a 40 pt. win. 6-10 F (Jr.) Brandon Huntley-Hatfield is committed to Duke 6-9 F (Jr.) Mickael Brown Jones was very impressive down low and handling the ball. 7-2 C (So.) is a Chinese kid and understand he has given his verbal to Purdue.
The 2020 McDonald's All-American team will be announced in January.
The best part of the night was meeting and talking with 5* Ohio State commit Lajon Covazos, while standing in line for the restroom at halftime. He caught my attention, as he and a friend were talking Ohio State football.

Last night the Ascendors defeated Huntington St. Joseph Prep (WV) 89-77 on 'live' national telecast on ESPN. They got Jaden Springer back on the floor after sitting most of the year with injury. Springer is a McDonald's All-American and was in classic form. He is the complete player and one the very best in the country. A 6-5 point guard, that is a prolific ballhandler, penetrator, passer and shooter. He will be a collegiate All-American at Duke, for sure.
The Ascendors will square off with St. Frances Academy of Baltimore, Md. today, in the final day as home hosts to their tournament invitational.
