Can't speak for coldwater but hope there in shape which at this time of year they should be but don't know if they've had to run with these thourobreads before

Willard's is 115.5, averaging 66 ppg. Let's not act like Willard is some game-breaking definition of speed and pace. It isn't even an extra basket per quarter that is seen in Willard games. Coldwater was extremely fortunate with their three-point shooting against OG, but they hung with OG. OG plays at a much faster pace than Willard. Teams combine for 130ppg in OG games, and OG averaged 75.6 ppg. Willard is good on fast-break situations but I'm going to fall short of calling them thoroughbreds.

All I know is they beat two great teams and we have to take them seriously.very seriously.I'm glad were here but not satisfied.

agree that they are hot. But guess who else is hot.I think it'll be a great game. Yep, we are hot too. The players and coaches should go in confident that they will beat Coldwater, they just can't go in over confident or it will be 1 and done at BG. Once you get to the Regional level showing up with your 'B' game is daring the opposing team to send you home, a 'C' game or below and it's over. Exceptional play is a must and Willard's players are all capable of exceptional play. They have to bring 'A' game focus, intensity and attitude from here on out. They also need to take a few seconds to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy the amount of support they will be seeing in the stands (The Craig Krenzel way). Coldwater isn't going to roll over and quit either. They were down 34-30 with 50 seconds left vs Archbold and scrapped out a 35-34 win. They were down 9 (41-32) in the 3rd quarter vs O-G, scrapped back, took the lead and held on for the win. Willard must keep the intensity & focus up for a full 32 minutes, they can't get up 42-33 and think Coldwater is going to rollover, instead Coldwater doubles down (winners attitude that Willard had throughout the 1980s) Willard brought a 'D' game in 1975 - shot 28% and Rossford sent Willard home in easy fashion. Willard brought a 'D' Game in 1976 - shot 29% and Van Wert out scored Willard 35-20 in the 2nd half to send Willard home for the season. Bring that 'A' game like the 79, 80, 81, 82, 84, 87, 92, 01 teams did.

The difference is 79, 80, 81, 82, 84, 87, 92 came during a 20+ year program of success, run by a legend. 75 and 76 came at the beginning of the run. One or two years of success can be done with great talent that doesn't come around that often at DIII schools. A "program" of continued success lies in a head coach's ability to build a program, regardless of talent. Move-ins are helpful.

Please beat Coldwater for the SBC. Can't remember if anyone from our league, has ever beaten Coldwater in anything. Oak Harbor beat them in football in 1999 and 2006.

Ontario is 1-0 against Coldwater. They faced them in the regional semis at Toledo. They went on to beat Delta in the regional finals to earn their trip to state.

VASJ has about that many state titles/runner-up in this time frame as well. I didn't think VASJ would have as many, but they actually had more. 16 Regional titles for VASJ since 75. 10 for Canton McKinley so I would suspect they have quite a few District titles in this time frame as well. From my spot checking I didn't see anyone else that looked like they had 10 final four appearances since 75.

Here's a couple more to check. Dayton Dunbar made 6 State Final appearances in a 13 year span and Lima Central catholic has made 5. Who knows how many District titles those 2 have had.

Beware of the hot teams. In 1995 Ottawa-Glandorf went 10-10 in the regular season and finished 6th in the WBL. They got hot in March and made it to the Regional Final before losing (58-54) to Clyde. Coldwater taking down Archbold and O-G in the District was a statement that they must be taken very serious. Bingo.

I thought Rogers has 2, and not 1. Or did OHSAA goof stating Rams was a State team in '11?

I’ve seen Coldwater firsthand. All I’m going to say is the Flashes will have their hands full. So have I and I agree with you. It should be a great game.

I don’t know their total but according to their Facebook page St V-M has won 11 straight district titles. Add the 4 with LeBron that makes 15
