I didn’t think Shelby played well. Score could’ve easily been 42-14. Norwalk pretty much did whatever they wanted on offense. Their RB had a 90 yard TD run another TD reception for about 50 yards, whippets were a step slower and looked afraid to make a tackle.

Saw that in OF scrimmage; no one is going to be thrilled trying to tackle Stumpf and especially Maloney.

Still no sign of work on the visitor bleachers. After hours work is being done on the parking lot. 5 days till they will be needed. The school board should admit their incompetence and order portable bleachers now.

Now I’m wondering if they’ll have them for the Truckers’ home opener. 3-1 says they don’t. The parking lot looks ready to pave, let’s hope it drys out enough on Thursday so they can get it going. That’ll be funny Huron and Norwalk fans sitting together

I would like to watch Norwalk and Huron play, But if we (Huron fans) are forced to sit on the home side, I'll stay home and listen to it on 95.3 WLKR. Hopefully, They use common sense and move the game to a different venue.

Yeah, no bleachers week 1 for SP shouldn’t be an issue, unless they fill a charter bus and follow the team. No bleachers week 2 is a definite problem.

There are two or three sets of portable bleachers on the south side of the home stands. I don't remember them being there. Is this the white flag we expected? On the bright side, if they stay there it will clog the area the young ones who lack parental supervision make a nuisance of themselves during the games. I suppose at this rate I will count it a victory if the board can get the grass mowed in time. I would also support playing in Huron week two.

I would say portable bleachers are a safe bet.

Are they the band bleachers for Norwalk? St Paul’s band sits in the stands.

From Joe Centers' article in the Norwalk Reflector:
"Concerning Whitney Field, Fisk said there was a delay with the new visitors’ bleachers, so temporary ones are coming in this week and will be up for the entire season. As far as the parking lot, local contractors were in over the weekend on their own time putting in pipes, drains and crushed asphalt. Workers were rolling the parking lot Monday to get it ready for St. Paul’s season opener Saturday night.
“Our contractors are amazing,” Fisk said."

There have been portable bleachers for a couple of years now on the home side to the right of the stands (facing the field). It used to be seating for middle school students. I think now anyone can sit there. The band also has portable seating in the endzone (with the scoreboard).
As far as the kids running around. Until the school district gets people patrolling down there and sending kids home or back to their parents. . . it will continue. It is awful. I witnessed an older woman get knocked down as she was walking to the restroom because kids were messing around. They didn't even help her - just giggled and ran off. It is really sad.
I remember years ago . . . the AD and staff walked around and made sure kids were sitting. Parents actually made their kids sit and watch the game. Making an announcement does nothing. They need to enforce it.

As just mentioned, and also hearing from a couple reliable sources, this was basically out of the district's control. Board doesn't deserve this criticism.

I personally feel that even with no bleachers on the visitor's side we have a better situation over there than last year.
That being said I was shown a picture yesterday of temporary bleachers being installed. (Again better than what was there last year imo)

So what factor took it out of the control of the board and prevented them from getting this done in 3-4 months? Was there a nation-wide bleacher installer strike? To say things just didn't work out or there was a delay is to say nothing...except "I don't want the blame/criticism."

The temporary bleachers are now up, they actually look a lot better than the old wooden bleachers that used to be there, I guess anything would look better than them.

I went by Whitney Field about 3:00 monday afternoon and the temporary bleachers were folded up and moved off of the pad. Haven't been by there yet today but i wonder if the new bleachers are on the way. if so it is good planning being that St. Paul and Norwalk are both playing on the road this week.

The construction of the new bleachers has begun. Hopefully the inspector does not drag his feet after they are completed.

This was not Norwalk's fault. The board approved the bleacher replacement in March so that the bleachers could be in place and inspected before the season began.
Unfortunately we had a lot of rain this summer . . . all over the Midwest. The company installing the bleachers got backed up. Norwalk was just one of their projects and like all of their projects - we were pushed back. The company paid for the portable bleachers because it was their delay.
The company has caught up and is now working at Norwalk.

Imagine how much earlier they would have been in the scheduled bleacher rotation if this decision had been made at one of the several other board meetings that took place between the end of football season and the March meeting.
