Ohio State leads the all time series 6-1, and it's 4-1 in B1G play.

I heard that Nebraska is breaking out the all black uniforms, ala Iowa and Purdue. I heard that Nebraska is honoring their cancer kid, ala Iowa and Purdue. Psychological advantage goes to Nebraska. Talent advantage goes to Ohio State.
I know what Larry Bird would do if some team tried to take the psychological over his Celtics with a cancer kid. Larry would have walked up to that kid before the game and say "Nice to meet you, I'm Larry Bird and I'm going to put on a show for you tonight and score 50 just for you kid." Larry would have made sure he had the psychological advantage and would have busted it all game to make sure he got that 50.
Ohio State needs to meet that kid before the game and tell him they are going to put on a show for him. Chase Young needs to tell him he's going to get 2 sacks just for him. Justin Fields needs to tell him he's going to account for 4 TD's just for him. JK Dobbins needs to tell him he's going to rush for 2 TD's just for him.
OSU must take that psychological advantage back away from Nebraska. Iowa and Purdue used it to their advantage and it felt like Ohio State players were not "mean" enough in those games knowing that the cancer kids are watching. OSU Players - "I can't look like a jerk and do anything to win this game because the cancer kid is watching". Larry Bird would have told that cancer kid what he was about to do in the game for him, so being a jerk along the way was a-okay cuz he's getting that 50 for the cancer kid.
Athletes achieve amazing feats for cancer kids, remember when Kramer promised a cancer kid that Paul O'Neil would hit 3 HR's for him. Paul O'Neil hit a HR and Kramer said "he did that for you kid", and the kid said, "that's only 1 you said he'd hit 3". So Paul O'Neil went ahead and hit 2 more HR's for a grand total of 3 on the game just for the cancer kid. ^^^ Yes that was just a Seinfeld episode, but mediocre Iowa and mediocre Purdue both blew out elite Ohio State teams. Hitting 3 HR's in one game is easier than a mediocre Purdue beating an elite Ohio State by 30. Athletes achieve amazing feats for cancer kids. OSU needs to take that psychological advantage back.

Great write-up Rambo! You're right though, psychology comes in to play quite often in the world of sports. When placed in the minds of young athletes, it can instill an extra sense of purpose and untold, motivational incentives to play at a capacity, well beyond their expected abilities. This is much different than your typical, pregame, locker room speech to pump up the players, that is good for perhaps a half a quarter, before the adrenaline normalizes and actual talent and abilities becomes the reality. Playing a game that is dedicated to someone can have a game long implication.

This is the first of many tests for the Buckeyes. They need to control every aspect and come out on top.
45-17 OSU

Don't think the Huskers can contain the Buckeye offense. The Buckeye defense will be up to the task. The Defense will get a boost with Jonathon Cooper's return, opposite Chase Young, and the return of Robert Landers at NT. The Huskers have given up 21 to a 1-3 South Alabama, 34 to Colorado State and 38 to Illinois. With rain predicted, may put a damper on scoring and make increased turnovers a probablility.
48-17

The lone score by Martinez, was well after wholesale substitutions commenced. Offense always begins up front and the offensive line continues to impress, against perhaps the largest defensive front we will see this year. Nebraska's defensive front averages 320 pounds. The Buckeyes had all eyes and ears on this Nationally telecast event, with no other games playing. The perfect situation to display our product and gain the attention of the entire, college football world.

A couple Defensive coaching upgrades have sure made this a different Defense. what a difference from last year.
We're gonna have some tests going forward,,,but having PSU and WISC at home, we will be double digit favorites every game unless I'm missing something.

Looking forward to the Wisconsin game, that will be a top 10 matchup. Jonathan Taylor will be tough to stop.

Looking forward to the Wisconsin game, that will be a top 10 matchup. Jonathan Taylor will be tough to stop. We've stopped him before, in a big way. With our outside contain, he will be forced to run between the tackles and good luck with that. This years coaching staff is a dramatic improvement, especially on the defensive side of the ball. I've been wondering with this years coaching staff, what would they have done with last years players? I'm guessing an undefeated season and playoffs. (with all due respect for Urban) Enough of looking back to last season and what we have accomplished this season. I especially like the demeanor of this years players, very little chest pounding and showboating, pretty even keeled, like Ryan Day and his staff. Some teams experiencing success can be obnoxious, not this team. Post game handshakes by both teams says it all.

Taylor is still a beast, doesn’t matter if we’ve stopped him in the past. Wisconsin is playing well and I’m looking forward to that game, glad it’s in Columbus this year.
What I wonder about the past years is how bad was Schiano and Bill Davis? Looks like those two were really holding this defense back.

bad schemes last year and Tuff was never really healthy...what a difference a year makes
the thing that stood out to me last night from our D was our gap control and overall discipline, especially on the Huskers 1st "drive"
good lord Jeff Okudah, looks like he is going to have one of those Malik Hooker type years where he just makes plays all over the field in every conceivable form and fashion
We really have no weakness at this point. I mean I expected the O-line and D to be better (how could they not after last year) and I expected Fields to have a big arm and run all over the place...but I didn't expect our D to look like World Beaters and I didn't expect Fields to be so accurate...that is what stands out to me about him, not a whole lot of time working with these WRs and 1st year in the system and his passes are on the money. That pass to Garrett Wilson, shew boy.
And also, Garrett Wilson. It's just the beginning. To think what our WR corps will be next year with Fields is kind of crazy. An extra year of experience and the kids we got coming it? Go Bucks rofl.

Browning is also turning into the LB we thought he would be when he was recruited. Borland starts but it seems like Browning is in there more series overall.

This ichigan fan commenting on M GoBlog:
"What pisses me off is they were supposed to fall down to earth. Those bastards went 13-1 last year, won the BIG and the Rose Bowl. Their idiot fans complained like they were 8-4 because the D sucked. They went 13 and f—ing 1! The D now looks like the 85 Bears, and the first time HC looks like Dabo. The damn QB who was supposed to struggle with accuracy is a damn monster. They replaced 4 starters on the OL and they absolutely maul people. I’m crestfallen over this Poop. I hate them so damn much. Shockingly, [Mattison] is still elite when given NFL guys at every position."

What I wonder about the past years is how bad was Schiano and Bill Davis? Looks like those two were really holding this defense back. What is most interesting is that a new, inexperienced, offensive minded head coach, replacing a legend, knew what had to be done on defense and he did it without trepidation. That and he was able to recruit new defensive coaches from not only the NFL, but what used to be( ) a national power and biggest rival.

Frost knew it would be a waste of their Black Unis to use them against Ohio State. I'm thinking he'll save them for Northwestern. BTW, this team doesn't need a cancer kid, nor will a cancer kid help an opponent this year. The only psychological advantage Ohio State needs is for their opponent to see all the NFL players they have when they go through their pregame warm up.

Browning is also turning into the LB we thought he would be when he was recruited. Borland starts but it seems like Browning is in there more series overall. Borland is best at plugging a run game between the tackles. Browning is best running from sideline to sideline. I'm ok with the "killer Bs" working in tandem for the good of the defense. How many teams have two Mike Backers of their quality that can rotate in and out?
