Not sure if any of you caught this during the Ohio State- Cincinnati game last week but they showed Archie Griffin sitting with Jerry Lucas courtside. So I told my son who was watching the game with me, that if there was a Mt. Rushmore of Ohio State athletes these two would be on there along with Jesse Owens and Jack Nicklaus. Anyone else think of a better four than that? Let the debate begin.

Is this during the 4 years they attended Ohio State or only while competing while wearing an Ohio State uniform?

Isn’t that the same thing? The whole idea was to come up with the four greatest athletes to ever come out of the school. If you think about it, Archie’s greatest accomplishments happened while at OSU. Lucas took us to three straight championship games before becoming an NBA Hall of Famer. Owens set a record at the Big Ten championships that will never be equaled. It is fair to say that Jack accomplished many greater things after leaving Ohio State. Open your mind to the possibilities whether during or after their Buckeye days.

Archie was famous at OSU when he was there. Two Heisman Trophies. In his era,,top guy. About 5th best all time OSU RB imo. Zeke was all time Best imo. Jerry Lucas was def "THE' guy during his college timeframe also. Jack without peer. Jessie Without peer.

5th best?? I’m curious who else you think falls in front of a guy who rushed for over 5,000 yards in his career. And trust me, Eddie is my all-time favorite Buckeye since we were in school at the same time.

I suppose I was getting at that Jack Nicklaus was competing independently of the university while still in school so I was curious whether this was about their time as a Buckeye or their entire athletic careers

I have personally met 3 of your top four. Although some of these guys are before my/yours time, think my list would be: 1. Jim Jackson 2. Orlando Pace 3. Jim Parker 4. Jon Diebler Don't understand why Steve Arlin is on the list. Think he was born in Seattle, Washington? Add Larry Siegfried of Shelby to the list. L.W. St. John, the storied Athletic Director at Ohio State, that St. John Arena was named after, was a head football coach and athletic director at Fostoria High School, but he didn't grow up there. Steve Arlin went to Lima Shawnee High School. Jim Parker only attended Toledo Scott for one year but since he graduated there I consider him Northwest Ohio as well

you can't have a Mt Rushmore without Woody and Jesse, you just can't I agree 100%, but I think it was presented: If I had to make a Mount Rushmore of Ohio State athletes from Northwest Ohio: Jesse Owens was born and raised in Oakville, Alabama Woody was born and raised in Clifton, Ohio, which is south of Springfield. Otherwise, Jesse Owns #1 and Woody #2

I think their is an argument to be made for Logan Stieber Agreed...the only thing he lacked was an Olympic gold, but he did have a world championship gold to his credit.

I'm surprised nobody wants J.T. Barrett IV on it, Supposedly the greatest QB of all time. John Cooper should be on Xichigan's version.
