According to reports, last night the Highland BOE voted to leave the KMAC and join the MOAC.
Main reasons were, lack of JV and Freshman games in many sports in KMAC and no soccer in KMAC
It's humbling for Highland to finally admit, that KMAC is a small school league.

MOAC, you people are a joke! You are leaving Highland in! What was wrong with leaving Lexington in?

Add Lexington and Buckeye Valley and go to two five team divisions. Highland, Pleasant, River Valley, Marion Harding, Buckeye Valley Galion, Shelby, Ontario, ClearFork, Lexington. Play your division twice and the other once in volleyball, basketball, softball, baseball. Plenty of points for football teams and would have one other non-league game to schedule in week 1. Travel would be easier for all teams this way.

Buckeye Valley wants back in after one year?? I don't think Galion would be very happy with that arrangement. Maybe Harding would switch with Galion.

you think lexington would leave the OCC for the MOAC. i dont think so because lexington is competes very well in OCC and it will be a little downgradein competion 2.would you think even if moac goes to 2 divisions that they will allow lexington in knowing them and harding are the 2 biggest schools and compared to harding, lexington would dominate. i know about rivals with shelby, ontario and clearfork but like in wrestling, cross country and track it would be lexington dominating in a lesser extent football and basketball .i would not vote to put lexington in MOAC. plus in football lexington is d-3 while shelby, ontario, clearfork and galion is d-4 and pleasant is d-5.

YOU must not be avware that Lexington sent a letter of interest to the MOAC about joining. So yes they would leave the OCC. Do you know when Lexington last did anything impressive in wrestling? Years ago. How many times has Lexington football made the playoffs in the last 50 years of the program? Maybe 5 times. Are you making choices for league schools to be added based on cross country and track?

Lexington is not bigger than all the MOAC schools. I’m fact they are similar in size to most of them. Also, they are not scared of any teams in the OCC. A majority of schools in the OCC want to expand by adding Dover and New Philly which are both over 70 mile trips one way. They have no interest in making those drives for a league opponent.

So that means someone has to be bigger. But the MOAC has already proven the enrollment of a school is NOT the deciding factor since the largest MOAC school is much larger than ALL the others.

Some fans and coaches want easy wins and not quality wins. "Competition Breeds Excellence" was a statement I heard a former coach use once. Solid sports programs are not good because they are big, they are good because of the competition they play. Berlin Hiland is a good example of that.

I would vote them in for MANY reasons. Even though they'd win 90% of League Titles every year. UNTIL their programs eventually diminish due to playing weaker teams in the MOAC than they competed against in the OCC....using dude's premise.

Lexington had interest in the MOAC for travel and gates with good local competition. Not because the OCC or the MOAC was better or worse, easier or tougher than the other. My point was not league competition but more about out of league. Since this is a basketball forum, if you compare WTF's favorite team's out of league schedule to the school in this talk you can see the difference. Remove league games and common opponents. What remains id both have played 5 teams. Ontario chose to play three D2 a D3 and a D4. Lexington chose to play three D2 and two D3. So the school size doesn't matter much. Ontario has gone 4-1 in their games while Lex has gone 2-3 in their games. Here is the difference, Ontario's 5 opponents have a combined record of 42-62 while Lex's 5 opponents have a combined record of 87-15.

Thus it follows that if a school leaves a league with larger schools and more competitive teams. To join a league with much smaller schools and less competitive teams it will eventually negatively affect the quality of teams at that school. Don't ask me, ask the administrators at MOAC schools that voted no.

Ontario scheduled 6 schools with larger enrollments. Out of conference games: dudettes's favorite teams scheduled one DI school, Ontario scheduled 2 DI schools. Both schools scheduled one game against a lower Division school. Digging pretty deep when one wants to compare won loss records in ONE season. AGAIN....dudette makes a BIG deal about scheduling games for good attendance. Ontario's biggest visiting crowd came from the smallest school on the schedule. Only one larger crowd in the history of the O'rena. Dudette admits, the reason his favorite team schedules Ontario is for out of league competition. HISTORICALLY Ontario has always scheduled more schools with larger enrollments than Lex has. Ontario played THE largest school in Columbus for 4 years in a row, until the Columbus school wanted to end the series. Has Lex ever played a DI school in the year they won a State Title? Ontario has. Ontario has played non-league games against four schools that have each won multiple State basketball Championships. Over the years Ontario has scheduled non-league games with 7 OCC schools and 6 NOL schools. Both leagues larger than the league Ontario was playing in. How many non-league games against schools from larger leagues did Lex seek out? Very few.

The football coach was very vocal about being in a league with the likes of Wooster, Mt Vernon and Ashland. The three biggest schools. To me the gate concerns are an admin concern. Coaches should have a competing concerns and it looks like Lex does play better teams by having Sandusky, Ottawa Glandorf and Upper Sandusky. But I will say there is nothing wrong with a coach trying to schedule wins for his team.

But I will say there is nothing wrong with a coach trying to schedule wins for his team. Once again all of his thoughts are of Ontario being a small school when they are D2. Playing a D2 that happens to have 50 more boys in their high school does not carry any value to most fans. They look at the division breakdown. He looks at enrollment when describing larger and division when describing smaller. Interesting. More facts for ya since we want to include all games. (I was trying to remove league games since they are out of a teams control and remove any teams that both schools played just to look at outside schedules) In each team's 22 games Ontario plays 4-D1 teams, 14-D2 teams, 3-D3 teams and 1-D4 team. Lexington plays 8-D1 teams, 12-D2 teams, 2-D3 teams and 0-D4 teams. So it is very obvious to see who plays bigger schools. Considering that league games are set and they both play 10 games they can control, Ontario's 10 game schedule is against teams that are currently a combined 93-114. Lexington has scheduled 10 games against teams that currently are a combined 150-56. So it is also obvious who plays a tougher out of league schedule. Those are the facts. This same idea travels to other sports which helps make them more competitive. Just look at Ontario's cross country program since they have hired a former Lexington runner and started attending larger meets. But none of this has any connection to the topic.............. I'm out

A result of Lexington's desire to get out of the OCC and join the MOAC would mean their number of higher division games would decrease. The scheduling data I proffered are FACTS. "Scheduling wins" is a crap shoot, unless one schedules the likes of Crestline and Bucyrus. When Ontario was in the NOL they played Sandusky twice a year and beat them 75% of the time. They are playing a little better this year, but could go on a down turn next year. Like Clear Fork and Lex did this year. Upper was a lower division school until they moved up this year. Let's see how long OG, a lower Division school, stays on Lexington's schedule.
