What if Walker gets hurt? Washington at best is a 5 minute per game PG. You can say that for Wesson too, what if he had gotten hurt this year? Who was going to replace that? But if Walker would get hurt, Washington obviously would be the first replacement and Muhammad could also play guard. He did that in high school and AAU so he’s more than capable too. It would not have been a good option, but there was another post on the roster. Next year if Walker goes down there is no other PG on the roster.

I kinda think between The 3 true guards,,, we have that covered. Although I’ve read we may look into the transfer portal to fill a need as well. If Walker goes down, there is only 2 "true guards" not 3. Neither of which is a "true" PG. If Walker goes down and there are only 2 true guards, who subs for a blow or foul trouble? Don't say Jallow, Aherns or Jones, all three would compound the disaster of losing Walker. I'm of the opinion that recruiting must always provide the roster with at least 2 true PG's, the most difficult position to play and play well. It's always easier to find a small forward or a PG to play the 2 Guard. Easier for a 2 guard to play a small forward. Easier for a small forward to play power forward. Easier for a power forward to play the post. The ideal roster has 2 true post players and 2 true PGs, that leaves 9 scholarships for flexibility at the 2, 3 and 4. Even with 3 posts and 3 PG's that leaves 7 players to play the other 3 positions, where there is more flexibility. Next year Ohio State will have one post and one PG on the roster, with currently 10 other players for 3 positions and one scholarship to give. The roster is desperate for another post, Diallo? or no one. And desperate for another PG, Walker and no one.

Nobody has the perfect roster but nobody recruits predicting for injuries or a transfer. The reality is nobody wants to sit and wait for their opportunity. They want it now and that limits all rosters, and then we have the "1 & done" players.

I think Dwash knows that his ball handling is something he needs to work on. Like someone else said earlier, our 3 G trio minus Carton played awfully well in his absence. If the staff feels they need another PG, they'll search the portal to find one. The same can be said regarding our C position. Once Kaleb decides what he's doing, I think you'll see us react to that as well via the portal. As fans we don't know much about Diallo other than he seems really raw,,and really skinny(lol).

Can't pick up both a PG and Post from the Portal. Unless Kaleb leaves AND either Ahrens or Jallow decide to transfer.
We can always hope, but I don't see Diallo being ready next year. Which means Ohio State will go with a small lineup every game all game next year.

Well this one came out of no where... Luther Muhammad transferring.

He was one of the ones I was told to look out for leaving earlier this year.
I think it kinda has to do with minutes available and the talent on the roster. Jallow and The Cal transfer are both bigger and better than Luther. Add in the earlier season suspension and it becomes a littler clearer.

Well this one came out of no where... Luther Muhammad transferring. Ohio State down to just 2 true guards and a truck load of forwards. That's why i was hoping for another PG, not another forward. The last, one that hadn't played in 2 years and was just a few months removed from having his 2nd knee surgery in 2 years.

Jallow will be a Jr. next year. He did not play this year due to surgery on his ankle, he should be granted a Medical Redshirt.
Sueing will be a Jr. next year. He played 2 years for Cal, before sitting out this year after transferring.
Seth Towns 6-7 205 205 Jr. graduate transfer from Harvard
Zed Key 6-7 215 Fr.
Eugene Brown 6-6 185 Fr.

I didn’t even know who he was until I saw the article about him committing. He’s got decent size, says he’s 6’3 195. He shot around 40% from 3, and 80% from free throw line. Him and Meechie Johnson will be the two guards for the 21/22 season.

D Wash will still be here too unless he departs after his 3rd year. I guess I was thinking more true pg, I still think of Washington as a two guard. The next few seasons will be interesting, even with the departures we still have a lot of talented players. Just no true post player like Wesson.

But the roster still doesn’t have a player like him that can post up and create on his own inside.

No initial interest in Matt Haarms from OSU per the 20 schools that have already contacted him. Having a proven 7-foot-3 center in the arsenal never hurts.

But the roster still doesn’t have a player like him that can post up and create on his own inside. I agree with you but he was doing it less so it's not like it was a big part of the style of play. We definitely need a player that can defend that though.

Most 6-8 to 6-10 kids have transitioned away from the rim by the time they get to college. They want to be stretch 4s these days instead of true post players.

What would you call Diallo?? Unless there's been a drastic change, I don't think he can make a shot further than 5 feet from the bucket. Other than setting screens, he has no use off the block. As of NOW, Zed Key says he IS a post player. Watch his highlight video. Nothing but dunks or lay ins around the basket, other than one made 6 footer facing the basket.

there are no true post players anymore There is truth in what you say as many big guys want to step out and shoot. With Wesson it seemed like he was making a total transition from a post. From his soph to junior season he took less two point shots and more 3 point shots and scored less total points. I like the big guy being able to step out and shoot but do not forget what got you on the roster.
