I haven't really been following the NBA very closely this year, but I was having a look at the playoff bracket and noticed something pretty interesting about the 8 teams that are currently left. The last time any of them were in the finals was 2003 (Nets), and the last time any of them won the championship was 1983 (76ers).
All of the usual suspects for finals appearances over the past couple decades have either been eliminated or didn't make it in at all, so this year we're guaranteed to see a couple of long droughts broken, with the potential for some first time occurrences. Makes me a little more likely to pay attention to the rest of it.
The current matchups are Utah/LAC, Phoenix/Denver, Brooklyn/Milwaukee, Philadelphia/Atlanta.

Here's hoping the Clippers go the Clippers. Darn near in 1st Round against the Mavs.

To me the suns look like the team to beat in the west. The east is interesting. The new all star team of kd, kyrie and harden look unbeatable at times. I can’t stand how so many superstars can join a team basically in their prime and win it all. It’s happened in the past I know but it makes it easy to root against them. Hopefully philli can play enough defense to get it done.

How about the performance by KD last night. What a show. Something like 9-11 on contested shots. 49-17-10 on 23 shots. Wow.

Of the 4 teams left the most recent finals appearance is 1993 (Suns) and the most recent NBA title is 1971 (Bucks)
Oh, and the Clippers are playing in the conference finals for the first time ever.

Even the 93 Suns were close to not making it with Thunder Dan, Round Mound, and KJ. Nearly had epic upset in 1st Round to 8th seeded Lakers. In best of 5, LA won Games 1 and 2 in PHX, but didn't seal the deal at the Forum.
History Lesson over, Ha! Of teams remaining, I'm hoping Suns.

If Kawhi wasn't hurt, I think the Clippers win it all. Of course Kawhi is almost always hurt.

How is Lebron going to deal with being the 2nd best team in LA?

It took a bit, and I'll give credit for some resiliency, but eventually, Clippers were going to go Clippers
Congratulations to the Suns making their 3rd ever trip to Finals and 1st since 1993

It'll be Bucks and Suns for NBA Title.
A little trivia; these two were involved in a coin flip in 1969 for #1 pick and rights to Lew Alcindor(Kareem Abdul-Jabbar).

More trivia- These are the 6th NBA Finals where both teams only have one vowel in their nickname. Can you name the other 5? Bonus-can you name the only ABA Final where this occurred?

I can think of 4 off the top of my head:
Bulls/Suns Bulls/Jazz x 2 Spurs/Nets

I'm happy to see competitive games in the finals and neither team was contracted with all stars for a title.

I can think of 4 off the top of my head: Bulls/Suns Bulls/Jazz x 2 Spurs/Nets The last one's kind of sketchy-Spurs-Knicks. I know they're technically the Knickerbockers but they really never use that anymore. The ABA one is hard- Nets-Stars (Utah).

I was thinking 1999, but tripped up with technical name for Knicks.

Congrats Milwaukee. I would have been fine with either team winning this series, but I am kinda glad it was won by the franchise that has been knocking on the door for several years as opposed to the one who came out of nowhere after a long playoff drought.
Now the last 7 NBA titles have gone to either a California or Great Lakes city.

Hence, I'm glad 2-3-2 is done since 2014.

And the supposed experts said the Bucks weren't going to win more than one game after they lost the first 2 in New Orleans.
