Will be sad to see the old stadium go. William Woodburn Skiles Field at William J. Wilkins Stadium was a great venue over the years. Today though, it is well past it's prime, outdated and quite frankly, it is a dump. Other schools have surpassed Shelby with better facilities so the move needed to be made. I will miss seeing games downtown and not having a track around the field.
One cool thing the article failed to mention is there will be a small fence installed along the north endzone for fans to watch the game from there. Many of the old school fans requested that and the school listened so I think that's cool. I'm looking forward to the new and modern facilities. Something the community should be proud of. I'm glad those in charge found a way to get this project done.
