How much longer will it take before 8 man football in Ohio is a legit thing and there will a lot more schools associated with it. I think this is reality for a lot of schools, they just need to realize it.
Vanlue started the season with 13 players. Arcadia started the season with 17 players. New London is going on it’s 3rd season next year of no varsity football.
There are many other examples too. I get that every school wants to be under those Friday night lights and play 11 man football. Sometimes you have to let reality sink in.

Even some of the bigger schools are having trouble with numbers. And unfortunately I don't see it getting better. I know at Lexington they have like 36 dressed. That includes one or two freshman. Mt. Vernon isn't much better. The numbers are down at many schools for football.
This is due to soccer and country club sports being popular at some schools. Also what I call soccer mom syndrome. Where mommy doesn't want little Johnny to get hurt. Then kids just have other interests these days like video games, working, ect.

On this seasons roster for South Central they have a total of 12 players in the junior and sophomore grades combined.

Another one that needs to consider this is Crestline. They only have around 15 dressing on Friday nights.

Not having football is a negative for enrollment. That’s weird cause half of the schools in Ohio have lost a lot of enrollment and have football. Huron was always in Div. 4 and now is a small Div. 5 in football and they’ve always had football. There’s more to enrollment decreasing then not having football.

If your child was a football player would you enroll him at a school that didn’t have football? The answer to that is question is almost certainly no. If St.Mary’s doesn’t offer football how many students do they lose next year? Over five years? Over 10?

The interest for football isn’t what it used to be. The next 5-10 years that list of schools not doing 11 man football will continue to grow.
