Every coach since 1970 has had success in the valley compared to many area school during that time. We have a football tradition that is supported by generations and the kids enjoy taking part in that. Since joining the MOAC the previous coach was 49-19 in six seasons with 5 trips to the playoffs. If this is our measuring platform then no, I do not think the new coach will be successful in the valley. I was wondering. I know they have been really strong for a long time and this coach was not successful where he coached previously. So I wondered what your thoughts were.

I think the resources Brokaw has at CF and had at S.C. are vastly different. Also, it's been quite some time since he was at S.C., I don't know how relevant that 3-17 record is at this point. As far as discipline and toughness goes, I believe Brokaw will be just fine. At the very least, he is deserving of the benefit of the doubt in late June. I am excited to see what Brokaw and his assistants can do. I only hope the best for him and his squad this fall.

Truly different resources and he has been a continued assistant coach since his poor showing at S.C. so growth from failure is likely. I have heard the weightroom participation is about half of what it was last year.

He has a very strong Freshman class to work with. Colts should very a very good team in a year or two.

He has a very strong Freshman class to work with. Colts should very a very good team in a year or two. The great thing about JH sports is that kids can learn and enjoy themselves with success. The reality about JH sports is that some kids mature much quicker then others and JH championship players don't always have high school success.

I definitely do agree with you. However this Class has been beyond dominant. Usually when a class that has had success loses its success in HS its due to Numbers dropping.

You take 3 physically mature athletic kids with facial hair in 7th and 8th grade and you can have some success in physical sports. Fast forward by 3 years and those kids are the same size, their success will not be as great as a senior unless others are involved.

Had great success in earlier years then finished 1-9 as Seniors. In their defense a little that probably was Norwalk's toughest schedule ever

I guess you do have to figure in 3 other classes being added to the mix. Well time will only tell if this CF Freshman Class can live up too the hype. Hopefully this ages well but ill guess 8-2 their senior year 26-27

Hopefully this ages well but ill guess 8-2 their senior year 26-27 That is always part of wait and see. But in JH, one mature athlete can win a lot of games. Clear Fork has always had some success in JH football due to their youth league and tradition that other schools do not have. I'm looking forward to see how Coach Brokaw brings everything together and makes everyone happy in the valley.

I’m not so sure the favorite is Shelby at this point. Clear Fork is the champ until proven otherwise. Highland should be really good again with Naumann coming back. Don’t overlook Galion either. They should be solid. It will be interesting to see where Shelby fits with a lot of younger players getting experience last year.

I don’t ever count out coach Dick. Loved playing for him during my time at Madison. Shelby returns some good player at the skilled positions. I’m not not what the Oline if like but I would think its better then last years Oline. Clear Fork will probably tale a step back this year with the new coach coming in. I’ll take Shelby as my pick to win the league

Not necessarily football related but still relevant, Kyle Baughn has resigned as AD at Galion and taking same position at Pleasant. Galion is interviewing replacements this week.

That is really puzzling, going to a smaller school and all. This just, at least to me, sounds a bit weird. Huh............. Maybe the money is better in Dingtown (Cardington), but realistically that's probably not the case? I didn't think he was on the "outs" (necessarily) with anybody in the Athletic Department at Galion City Schools; at least not from what I've heard. Oh, well; onwards and upwards !

Something up in Galion? First you have a Super take a pay cut to go to a smaller school now the AD is doing the same.

The Superintendent left because she lives closer to Hayesville and she wanted to work closer to home. I’m not sure what the AD’s reasoning is behind this move. He was employed by Galion City Schools since 1999.

He was employed by Galion City Schools since 1999. I would drive the extra 20 miles on RT 30 from Hayesville to Galion for an extra $10k a year. AD lives in Morrow County so maybe he was same reason. I suppose the final answer is they both left for a reason we don't really know.

Galion is not that big a town/city. Hearing "rumors" as opposed to "facts" is a little less prevalent that one might initially suspect.
Allerding's reason for "leaving" has been a matter of "fact" here in Galion for a while now. Anything else that is written/said pertaining to this is pure supposition. Baum's departure was more unexpected that Allerdings's departure; hence, when the same sources that mention, ahead of time, Allerding's departure (through reliable sources) did not mention anything about Baum, it makes his decision more of a "head scratcher" (at least in Galion).

Agreed. Jen Allerding was very up front about her reason for leaving. Baughn is definitely a head scratcher but it’s his doing.

A Galion parent told me he grew tired of dealing with some parents, mainly a group of parents. Which is tough because you’ll deal with parents anywhere in that kind of job. But I guess some are worse than others and a fresh start isn’t always a bad thing.
