Should be an interesting year. Obviously West Holmes losing SDW hurt them a lot. They already lost a good chunk of talent in the senior class but losing Sam hurts. I still expect them to be a good team, there coach is building something good there, but I'm not sure the OCC runs through them this year. Half the OCC has a new Head Coach this year, Ashland, Madison, Lexington and Mount Vernon all will have new leadership this fall.
If I had to guess right now Mansfield would probably be my pick to win the OCC. West Holmes should follow close behind. After that who knows...No one really stands out right now.

No talk of Ashland? They have their head coach back, a D1 recruit at QB, and I hear a decent group of receivers.

No talk of Ashland? They have their head coach back, a D1 recruit at QB, and I hear a decent group of receivers. I think it will be a wait and see year for Ashland. Yes coach V is back…yes we have a very talented young Qb, but some questions need answered before we get too excited. Ashland graduated a large senior class, they will be replacing the entire offensive line for the 2nd time in 3 years. Coach V and his staff have a long way to go to get kids that always played football back to playing football. I will say the lower grades have a ton of talent, and I would think having a kid with Power 5 offers will help get kids wanting to play. It also helps seeing that Ashland will be back in Division 3 next year where they fit much better then D2.

Looks like Ashland is the only team to change divisions this year going from D2 back to D3
D2 Region 7 - Wooster D2 Region 7 - Mount Vernon D3 Region 10 - Ashland D3 Region 10 - Mansfield D3 Region 10 - Madison D3 Region 10 - Lexington D3 Region 9 - New Philly D4 Region 14 - West Holmes
Only bad thing for the OCC schools...defending state champions at D2 level Toledo Central Catholic slides down to D3 region 10 this year.....good luck with that.

Central Catholic should be competing in the AFC North. Give those Stillers a run for their money

If that individual is moving to Lex it's for basketball to play with the sophomore group and Fogle. Which by the way has some football talent also.

Sounds like Mansfield lost their D Coordinator Sean Adams. He is taking the head coaching job at Arcadia. Big loss for Mansfield. He had that defense playing at a different level last year.

So this means Mansfield will have a new DC and OC this coming season. Losing Adams is a very big deal along with the recent graduates.

Madison just can’t catch a break. Now what? Between Coach leaving and now one of their best players deciding to transfer to Lexington. At this point I’m just not sure that Madison will ever be good at football again.

Ashland's sophomore QB Bernhard got another D1 offer this weekend. This time to Iowa State. Should be interesting to see what he can do this year.

The Question is if he is going to have time to throw or not. The Oline is all new this year. I could be wrong but I think they are going to have some growing pains this season. They lost something around 22 seniors from last year and only have like 6-7 seniors this year.

If the young QB is legit, they will find a way for him to throw. I'm not saying you are wrong, but just because you graduate a bunch doesn't mean you lost a bunch of players. In football, many times seniors can be on the sidelines.

Ashland will be a very young team, but the talent at the 9th and 10th grade levels is very very good. As you stated Ashland returns 0 reps of varsity offensive line play. I have have followed Ashland football for a long time, this will be the 2nd time in three years that this has happened. The season will probably hinge on finding 5 guys to come together on the O-Line.

Finding five kids willing to work hard for little to no recognition is hard at every school. It’s about a coach motivating and teaching them how. I do not see that as a problem for that coach.

I can agree with most of that except Madison and MV. Madison should crush MV again this year.
