So what’s everyone’s thoughts about this year, and is Speller going to stay much longer? Heard only like a couple of the freshmen went out this year.

Is everyone in Willard playing Esports? I was told lazy freshman class. They had a hard time filling the roster for ms basketball last year playing some 7th graders.

I ask because it seems to be in other sports. Basketball had 15 total high school players. The sport that traditionally carries that community.

Willard is a Soccer town. I was here sounding the alarm 19 years ago. Nobody listened and now look...shame on everyone in Willard except me. If my heeds were listened to then Football would not exist in Willard and all resources would have been poured into Willard Soccer. The masses instead listened to Fauci and put a face diaper over their faces and kept funding Football. Disgraceful.
Willard Soccer would be on State Title number 7 right now. Willard Soccer would be pulling in 20,000 fans in an upgraded Soccer only Stadium right now. People would have been coming from hundreds of miles away to see the Spectacular Soccer players of Willard High. Willard Soccer would be pulling in elite prospects from all over the Country right now. Willard Soccer would be watched by all the elite European Soccer Leagues right now. But nobody listened, they listened to Gain of Function Fauci instead. Shameful.
DrugSmart was who the masses should have listened to instead of Face Diaper Fauci.

I know this person is trying to be funny but Willard soccer has been alive for 10+ years and they may not have accumulated 10 wins yet. Football still can put fans in the stands on Friday nights. I've seen successfull soccer programs carry a fan section of 45 people while a sub .500 football program can put 300 people in the bleachers. I'm just wondering why Willard high school kids are not wanting to play sports? It's a legit question about a town that traditional values it's high school sports.

As for the actual football team, but am I in the minority that thinks Willard has a chance to start 6-0? At least 5-0 for sure.
South Central (new coach), Plymouth (new coach), Vermilion (bad), Woodmore (worse than Vermilion), Fremont SJCC (worse than Woodmore and Vermilion), and then at Lakota (should be improved, but were only 2-8 last year).

Speller is staying. Lazy kids are in every class. Freshman aren’t special. Record will be 7-3.

Flashes will be solid with a chance to be special. Helps going down a division, but was needed. We will see.

It sucks for the small schools that Willard D5 is in the River D7 when they should be playing the BAY. Just because they couldn't win, just get better and play your size. Plus Speller runs the score up anytime he can, as he did last year (77 on Plymounth, 63 on St.Joe). Speller will probably have to stay at Willard for a time because of this last job at Elida and the issues there.

Willard will need some guys to step up on the line. They have less than a dozen doing the summer lifting. They return two lettermen from last year and they were both guards. Lots of holes to fill. Hearing Hagen may move to tackle. The other will shift over a spot to center.

Is Willard the next area school to go to eight-man football? If a school has a thriving soccer program like Willard does, if it gets to that point why would they play 8-man and not just cancel football all together?

Also I’d think if we are talk about immediate area schools that South Central and Fremont St. Joe would be two of the lowest for football participation.

Also I’d think if we are talk about immediate area schools that South Central and Fremont St. Joe would be two of the lowest for football participation. In 2020, the last time I saw the numbers, SC had an OHSAA enrollment of 81 boys and roster 38 for varsity. That year Willard had an OHSAA enrollment of 176 and had 34 on the varsity roster. Participation is not always about the size of the school.

It was pretty obvious that SC has great participation at their school. Same 2020 numbers show that FSJ had 40 and 21 were on the varsity roster for football. That's over 50% participation.

The offense looked alright during 7 on 7 s. Cam Robinson is a really good football player.
