Redmen had better standout player and better coaching. That's the difference

Darn, I should have went. I bet the Bellevue faithful enjoyed the flag being waved off, Ha! Let's just say Ed came really close to drawing a flag on that one. He was out past the numbers having quite a discussion with the white hat for a little while. That Edward, still feisty in his older years

On the first play from scrimmage Shelby through a 65 yard TD pass to a wide open receiver, a flag was thrown in Shelby's backfield before the ball had gone airborne, but after about 3 minutes of talking the officials waved it off and the TD stood. The ensuing 2 point conversion pass was a bit too high, 35-33. Those three minutes made me miss a year of my nephew and niece's life.

Darn, I should have went. I bet the Bellevue faithful enjoyed the flag being waved off, Ha! I bought the stream on BCSN tonight as I messed up my ankle and couldn’t attend. Let’s just say I almost forgot I had trouble standing/walking when that flag was waved off. And u could clearly seen on twitters BCSN replay that a wr came on late as the snap took place and no one there. TD shouldn’t have counted but thankfully the error didn’t change the outcome.

Reminds me of a "trick play" when a player pretends to leave the field, then just stands near sidelines alone

I'm not sure these are the current rules, but if they are, the Shelby late substitution doesn't appear to be illegal. Maybe someone else can point to some other rule that applies. But, it sure seems like it should be illegal.
SECTION 7 SUBSTITUTIONS ART. 1 . . . Between downs any number of eligible substitutes may replace -players. Upon meeting the criteria of 2-32-12, replaced players shall begin to leave the field within three seconds. ART. 12 . . . A replaced player is one who has been notified by a substitute that he is to leave the field. A player is also replaced when the entering substitute becomes a player. ART. 15 . . . A substitute is a team member who may replace a player or fill a player vacancy. A substitute becomes a player when he enters the field and -communicates with a teammate or a game official, enters the huddle, is positioned in a formation or participates in the play. An entering substitute is not considered to be a player for encroachment restrictions until he is on his team’s side of the -neutral zone. A team member entering the field to fill a player vacancy remains a substitute until he is on his team’s side of the -neutral zone.

Here's another highlight video, this one from Richland Source. (Note, it doesn't include the play being discussed above)

He came in, lined up inside the numbers and was set up in formation on the line of scrimmage before the ball was snapped…what’s illegal about that ? It was late, but he was set and set on the line of scrimmage.
