It appears the great decision-makers of our area read our opinions and ideas on this website about the district tournament location last year (I kid, I kid, but it does line up with some of our thoughts shared last season...)
Per Jake Furr on Twitter/X:
"Also, according to the @nwdabsports site, the Division II boys basketball district tournament that was held at Ashland last year is a TBD site. Sources say it will either be at Mansfield Senior, Ontario, Lexington, or Galion (in that order) depending on who is still playing."
The northern half of the district may have some grief about this, but at least we are showing some presumed cooperation and creativity amongst area schools to provide a district location that suits what should be an exciting district tournament this season.

That is great news. Should be an exciting district for what could be some nice crowds at the district games no matter what venue is selected.

Have they listed the teams that will be in this District?
If I had to make a guess as of today. Ontario will be hosting.

From wherever I know to check, no word on the district teams. As far as geography is concerned, I think the southern site list implies we could grab Kenton and Upper Sandusky. Sandusky is up to D1, so I can see Bellevue being shuttled to what was the Millbury Lake district this last season (where Clyde was allocated). That would make our district the same size as last year. Only Vermilion, Perkins, and Norwalk would be left with a long drive south in that scenario. That's reasonable if there's a Kenton & Upper who have to make a similar drive towards Richland County.
I had the same thoughts about the eventual host. Ontario ought to be the host unless there are some considerable seeding shenanigans and turmoil. I have the hindsight of reading that Lex won @ Mansfield 70-45 tonight. Maybe there's a world where Lex or Shelby gets Mansfield in the draw & a victory over them during sectionals. Can't ignore Willard acting up and knocking off a team either. Ignoring that, I'd say Ontario is the likely spot. I think any of the sites show more promise than Ashland HS.

Ah. Didn't catch that about Norwalk. Maybe that's enough to keep Bellevue in the scene. As I look at the NW district schools listed on Davey1 and the Ashland bracket from last year, I didn't realize how much the gravity has shifted towards a near total stronghold for teams in the Richland County area. Truly hard to complain from most schools' perspective as far as driving is concerned.

There are 33 teams for DII, so each district will get 11.
Gained- Bowling Green, Tiffin Columbian
Lost- Wapakoneta, Sandusky, Norwalk, Otsego
Here are the DII teams- Bath, Bellevue, Bowling Green, Bryan, Celina, Central Catholic, Clear Fork, Clyde, Columbian, Defiance, Elida, Fostoria, Galion, Kenton, Lexington, Mansfield Sr., Maumee, Napoleon, Ontario, Perkins, Port Clinton, Rogers, Rossford, Scott, Shawnee, Shelby, St. Marys, Upper Sandusky, Van Wert, Vermilion, Wauseon, Woodward, Willard.
My predictions
Lake- Bowling Green, Bryan, Central Catholic, Clyde, Maumee, Port Clinton, Rogers, Rossford, Scott, Wauseon, Woodward
Liberty-Benton- Bath, Celina, Defiance, Elida, Fostoria, Kenton, Napoleon, Shawnee, St. Marys, Upper Sandusky, Van Wert
TBA- Bellevue, Clear Fork, Columbian, Galion, Lexington, Mansfield Sr., Ontario, Perkins, Shelby, Vermilion, Willard
I could be wrong on a few of them, but I think this is what they might do

(that is if Mansfield and Lex do not host)

I've noticed on Davey 1 schools that changed Divisions have been adjusted, but their District Locations have not. I have to assume Norwalk and Sandusky will be either in Lake or Central Catholic District

Did the district assignments settled finally? If so, where could I find it, other than this post if it's correct. Tiffin and Bellevue would be a fun wrinkle in the district. Tiffin looks like they are rolling along pretty decently. Could be a fun sectional final matchup with one of those two taking on someone like Willard, Mansfield, Lex, and Shelby. As far as I can understand, the Liberty-Benton district could be reasonably weak. Defiance is looking a step down from usual. Van Wert has taken their L's.

This district happens to have multiple teams being mentioned in the state rankings. Once again one of the tougher districts in the state.

In alphabetical order, here are notable teams in this district:
Bellevue 11-3 Lexington 17-1 Mansfield 12-3 Shelby 12-2 Willard 12-2
That's a combined record of 64-11 amongst the top five teams. The 11 losses are comprised of:
Tiffin 8-6 Sandusky 11-1 (3x, Bellevue Willard Mansfield) Norwalk 9-6 Gahanna Lincoln 11-5 Ottawa-Glandorf 13-2 Margaretta 12-2 Lexington (Mansfield 2x and Shelby)
Plenty of battle tested teams in this grouping, and that's only by examining the losses.

It us sad that D2 NW dist 1 only has 2 of the 11 teams in it with a winning record, and they both have 5 Ls. Is there any other solution? Top 5 teams in Dist 3 would be top seed. On another note, are the seeds locked into a bracket, or can coaches still pick their line on the bracket?

Having the higher seed host Sectional games will put a new spin on some movement.
