Trey Williams, sophomore at Mt. Union, from Cardington, scored on a 75 yard interception return Saturday in Mt. Union's opening day win. Nice to see area kids excel in college.

My son, Chase Cooke at Baldwin Wallace. There are 7 or 8 quarterbacks at BW. Possibly could have made the wrong decision for him to go there. Tiffin University (where he could have walked on) is starting a redshirt Freshman. You never know, but I think about stuff like this. But Chase loves the Baldwin Wallace and is starting to get familiar with the plays. He will "hopefully" play this Sunday in a Junior Varsity game at home against Hiram. I guess they only can play one quarter during the game, which sucks! BW has a couple of good QB's (the starter a Junior and another is a Senior), so I probably won't be able to see Chase play much this season. On a positive note, the QB coach told Chase he's the most gifted QB he has ever coached. Has a Gift from God..he said...haha! But I wonder how many other QB's he has told that too. LOL
I guess the most important thing is Chase is loving the college..just got a 90% on test (and for you guys that know the story he struggled in high school up until his Senior year). Chase's first year is paid for thru the scholarship he received. So I'm happy for him and any other MOAC former player who is making it happen at college. Congrats to them!!!

Saying this to a freshman on a roster with 8 QBs that currently has no shot of playing at a D3 school you should ask where he has been coaching. OR, maybe he was talking about his hair.

Well I don't know the guy's history, but he's always been high on Chase. Told him at one of the camps that he was the perfect quarterback if he could just learn to plant that back foot and drive the ball instead of relying on his big arm to get the ball there. So I will see Sunday how he performs..sink or swim? lol Even the head coach, Hilvert from Cincinnati LaSalle..loves Chase's hair. You are right there. First thing he said too him at the Orientation Day was, "How's the hair Chase?" LOL To everyone else who replied:....you are totally right. I will say this I don't know where Chase will end up. You don't know how the season will go. You don't know how next year will go...or his 4 years at college..wherever it may be. You just don't know. Hopefully he keeps learning the plays, gets bigger and faster and keeps getting solid grades. I'll be happy as long as he enjoys himself. It all starts this Sunday. I'll let you all know how it goes for him...bad, good or indifferent.

Yeah! Chase struggled today for BW. I'll be the first to brag him up, but he didn't look comfortable in the pocket. He was going to be brought into the game right before the half to throw a bomb, but our guy roughed the punter. Hiram ran out the clock. He started the 3rd period. He drove them down for a touchdown, but with no help from himself. He played all the 3rd period and a couple series in the 4th period. He didn't throw any interceptions, though one should have been picked off. He did make a couple easy throws. Nothing spectacular. Like I said before to all of you before, I'll be blatantly honest. One game down, and he didn't shock the world. ha! Still learning, hopefully he will get better. My family photo today (missing my oldest, Codi): Attachments:

Here is a list of MOAC kids that are playing D3 football in Ohio (correct me if I missed anyone). If anyone has a list of Naia, Juco, Division 2 and 1 players, I can add them. Also, if anyone knows of kids that went out of state, please list that below.
Chase Cook -QB- Fr-Galion-Baldwin Wallace Nathan Sperling-WR-JR-Harding-Capital Shawn Facione Jr.-LB-Sr.--Harding-Capital Wyatt Pertuset-WR-So.- North Union-Capital Blayde McCully-LB-FR.- Buckeye Valley-Capital Josh Haverfield-OL-Jr.-Pleasant Bluffton Hunter Morrison-Wr. Jr.- Buckeye Valley- Bluffton Isiah Davis-DL-So.-Galion-Defiance Jermaine Burket-DB-Jr. Galion Heidelberg Jacob Fryer-WR-So. Galion Heidelberg Robert Drummond-OL-FR. River Valley Marietta Brandon Cox-Ol-So. North Union- Muskingum Josh Marcum-OL-Fr. River Valley- Muskingum JAX HARVILLE-Qb-So.-River Valley- Ohio Wesleyan ETHAN SPRINGER-OL-Fr.-River Valley- Ohio Wesleyan DARRYL MAYO-LB-Fr.- Buckeye Valley- Ohio Wesleyan Rick Thomas-Lb-Fr.-Clear Fork-Otterbein Nick Cooper-Db-So.-Buckeye Valley-Otterbein Alex Vredenburgh-Db- So.-Ontario-Otterbein Josh Plieninger-Te-Sr.- Ontario-Otterbein Blayne Voorhees-Db-Jr.- River Valley-Otterbein Dom Ross-Wr-Fr.-River Valley- Otterbein Caleb Ivy- WR-Fr-Galion-Otterbein Bryce Miller- Ol- Fr.- Ontario-Wittenberg Sam Zimmerman- Lb-Fr. Ontario- Wooster
Facts that are organized better-There are 21 d3 colleges with football in Ohio/ MOAC is represented in about half. Colleges with the players: Otterbein (7) Capital (4) Ohio Wesleyan (3) Bluffton (2) Heidelberg (2) Muskingum (2) Baldwin Wallace Defiance Marietta Wittenberg Wooster
High Schools that have sent players River Valley(6) Galion(5) Buckeye Valley (4) Ontario (4) Harding (2) North Union (2) Pleasant (1) Clear Fork (1)
It really surprises me how small Galion is compared to Harding and yet they have sent 3 more kids than them. Also, close colleges like Kenyon and Ohio Northern lack any players from the MOAC surprisingly(though Kenyon is more difficult to get into).Â

^^^ That game ranks right up there with Mt. Gilead - Cardington. They, Capital, came to Otterbein back in, oh '59 or '60, and burnt a large C at mid-field of Otterbein stadium. I think we beat them that year 50 to some thing much less.

FINALLY....Have something good to report on about my son, Chase. He's been in a tough position. He's just not getting the reps. Last game we were down 29-0, they bring Chase in for one series...4 and out, and then bring our starter back in who's a Sophomore. He always comes back in the game in the 4th quarter for some reason which I don't agree with. There are 3 QB's on the JV team. We were down 29-0 in this game 2 weeks ago against Heidelberg.
This Sunday we played John Carroll (at their beautiful stadium). We were down 21-3 going into the 4th quarter. They bring Chase in, and he starts from his own 5 yard line. Chase went 6-8 in two drives, both ending in touchdowns. He threw a 44 yard touchdown pass and completed a pass to convert a 2-point conversion. He threw for 124 yards in 2 drives. That's not bad. I'm pretty sure JC was still playing most of their starters. Their QB played the whole game. Their defensive line was HUGE, and chased Chase all over the field. ha! Our defense couldn't stop JC at the end of the game to get the ball back to Chase and the offense. They went for it on 4th and 4 with like a min 20 left in the game and hit a 25 yard floater down the sideline.

Credit where credit is due to Chase.
Positive playing time at JV might translate into significant playing time or starting as an upperclassmenn.

Credit where credit is due to Chase. Positive playing time at JV might translate into significant playing time or starting as an upperclassmenn. Yeah...Moac..I'm hoping so, because I'm not happy with his playing time. You would be amazed at what's being told him and I by the coaches (not the head one yet though. LOL) He was told by a coach that he had more of a God-given talent or natural talent than a football player who is currently on a NFL team now. (This coach knew this guy personally too..is all I'll say.) I just think that is a little out there, but it made Chase feel good. Maybe that was the intent, but there was something said to me which I find a little hard to believe too. They (the coaches) have plans for Chase; we will see if what I've been told pans out for Chase. It's hard to see it now from my prospective when he's the last quarterback to come into games...on a JV level. I know Chase has the size and arm strength to play on any division in college...(look at the mess Kent State is going thru now). I honestly believe that. When he has the time, the ball is there and there quickly. He's starting to make better throws on the run now too. He could never do that before. He's under a lot of pressure coming into games so late though, but I honestly think it's starting to help him make better throws now. But like I've told anyone who listens to me...you can have all the talent in the world but if you can't make it happen on the football field...you will never reach your potential...or maybe you just can't ever get there. Some athletes with limited natural talent can step on a football field and do extremely well, because they understand the game. Chase has to learn the game better or he won't ever reach his potential. He's getting better and that's all I can ask for, plus he's doing well in college..grades-wise. I'm extremely happy. Not happy about the playing time though. I never see the benefit of running your starter back into a JV game when he's already played the whole first half. It makes no sense to me...ESPECIALLY when you are losing 20 something to "0". It should be fair to the other 2 QB's...you get one quarter each. I have no problem with the sophomore playing the whole first half, but when he's done..he's done. He always gets to come back in, except for the last game where Chase did so well.
