I was there, That's true our (Huron) side was very sparse. Vermilion's side emptied out after halftime. Almost looked like a soccer game crowd. Why does the Vermilion announcer always lie over the PA system that someone famous is in attendance, When their really not ? Apparently he does this at every Sailors home game. It really isn't cute anymore.

I don't think there is anything wrong with what Vermillion did. Why should a team ever stop trying to win the game? I am not an entitled Huron fan like H Team. I am a student. I support the Tigers. I smoke pot. Also, I am ready for basketball. As for football, I hope the Tigers can win out and get back in the playoffs where they belong. Willard- stop comparing me to other users. You should know I am one of a kind. GO Tigers. Not everyone is a "user". ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

To get back to the point of the OP...
The only team who should put their JV in is the team winning the game. Although Huron was up 26, they were not scoring at will. They could have left their Varsity in and ran the ball and ate the clock.
Just before the half with Huron up 20-14, the sailors stopped huron on a 4th down play. Then committed a personal foul that gave Huron a first down that led to a score right before the half. Half time score could have been 20-14 or maybe 21-20 if not for the dumb penalty. My point being that this was not as much of a blowout as the score indicates. Huron clearly won the game and deserved to do so.
Vermilions coach was sending a message to his kids that we don't give up. And for a program that has had a quitting mentality for 10 years, that message was more important than any playing time our sophomore right guard could have garnered.

When this was on the other site there were quite a few Huron supporters who thought their program was the best of best. Always bragging about how many players were out and what not. How great a coach Legano is. What has that really ever done for you? Whenever you would play in a big game you would lose. Name me the last big win your program had

The bottom line is you Huron folk act like your program is St Ignatius when in fact you're not even heard of in most of the state. Heck to the Coldwater you a just a W to them

Actually Tony Legando made the Huron program well known around the Buckeye state. I have relatives down by wheelersburg who know about Huron and its program. People know that are football fans. Are they Saint Iggy? no! But, over the course of years, its an established program.

Did a "small town fball" program a year or two ago, and they were one of those picked to be featured.

The Weather Channel out of ATL must have thought enough about it. Did a "small town fball" program a year or two ago, and they were one of those picked to be featured. It was 2014, here's the best video I could find of it (which someone videoed off their TV screen) They filmed this the week of Huron's week 1 win over Sandusky and it aired the morning before their week 2 game against Bellevue. Funny looking back on that clip and seeing the bit at the end where they mentioned the forecast for that night's game as being "great weather before the thunderstorms hit." That ended up being spot on, as the storms hit Huron well after the game would have ended....but there was lightning visible from other storms out over the lake that stopped the game early in the 4th quarter when Huron was up 13-7 with momentum. I remember waiting around forever as far off lightning kept restarting the 30 minute clock and then eventually (after lightning started becoming visible to the west) the decision was made to resume the game the next morning ...and I also remember seeing quite a lightning show on the way home, but actually making it all the way back to Bellevue before the storm actually hit there. The next morning Bellevue fell on a fumble in the endzone and won 14-13. Seemed kinda fitting for Huron to have a game so greatly affected by the weather on the day they were featured on the Weather Channel.

greenman, you aren't kidding about St. Paul's and those cowbells. The only thing is that just about everybody in the Firelands had cowbells. There was also people who even had those long plastic horns that you get at Indians ball games. We in the Firelands know how to have fun at our games. I was one of them who had a cowbell, or more, at the games and you can hear me yelling at the games at the top of my lungs. You can ask St. Mary's fans about me. My son, who is a SP grad, was on defense in the freshman game and he wasn't getting across that line to make a tackle. I was up in the coaches booth and I yelled out that if he doesn't get in the backfield and make that tackle I was going to come down with a 2 x 4 across his backside where the sun don't shine. Well the ref's had to stop the play because not only were the players laughing so hard so were the ref's, our fans and their fans to. Even the varsity which was practicing behind the visitors stands had to stop because they all were laughing so hard to practice. That's what you get when you have an old Army sergeant there. Oh, also let you know there was plenty of times our 2nd. stringers were up against the other teams 1st. stringers and the 2nd. stringers were still scoring and holding there 1st. stringers to no points. So there are times it doesn't matter if your 2nd. or even your 3rd. stringers are up against the other teams 1st. stringers, just get your kids in and teach them on how to play the game.

Remember during that Weather Channel segment, How we (Huron residents) supposedly mortgaged our houses, To help pay for Kalahari field inside of Huron Memorial Stadium. What a farce. Some of us couldn't afford to do that anyway, at the rate Huron city council throws our money away on stupid projects. Some of them better not be seeking re election, They won't be back.

No, there wasnt anyone doing that for the kalahari project, but back in 1972 it actually is true - the old visiting bleachers were at mccormick middle school, those were carried by students piece by piece to the high school,, then they had to buy the home side bleachers plus lights , fencing, and a ticket gate. So I believe it was a total of 5 booster people who did mortgage their homes to help raise the money.. 1970 before the stadium was built. This was taken from the roof of the Huron High School.. ![1970 Memorial Stadium](http://hurontigers.com/football/construction/1070stadium.jpg) This would be the current image, after 40 years or updates..and the help from kalahari and boosters. ![current Huron Memorial Stadium](http://hurontigers.com/2017season/stadium.JPG)
