Have these 2 schools ever played before? I can't imagine that any kind of scheduling from even back in the olden days would somehow bring them together.

28-14 Willard
Go Flashes, keep the bounce in your step. Go down in history as the team that started the rebound of the program.

What are you breaking out of? Fortunately for the flashes they broke out of a disastrous loss. Game tied at 14 ending regulation. Flashes return the opening kick off. St Mary’s with two pick sixes SMCC scores first in overtime kicks the extra .21–14 lead. Flashes drive score go for two and win. 22–21

What are you breaking out of? My point. You don't breakout in game 9. I went to the game last night to watch my friends son play for SMCC. Willard went for 2 and could have easily lost this game as they won it. It wasn't a breakout game haha. It was a 9th game of the season win and barely that. Congrats to Willard on winning 3 games this season. An improvement? Yes.

Needed to dial down the sched & get these kids some wins for a few years so future classes would keep playing football.
I know ppl think Fox will come in next week and try to win 100-0 after being shunned by the school board. I doubt it, I believe Fox w game in hand will take foot off the gas.

Poor SMCC..........that program has sure gone downhill. Sad to say, but if they can't get some more kids involved, they should just do away with football at the school.

SJCC FB is way up in numbers after getting a coach that the kids want to play for (and doesn't act like a complete embarrassment) last year. They have something like 43 in the program this year (up from a couple of dozen a few years back). I hope Coach Spicer sticks around for a while!

I'm sorry you think Willard should be playing the same schedule as Port Clinton a school way bigger than my Flashes. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I remember Port Clinton playing in a Conference called the Sandusky Bay Conference against Calvert, SMCC, St Joe and Margaretta in the 1980's? Pot meet Kettle.

That's about what they have in the whole school now (boys and girls combined). All four of the schools you mentioned are significantly smaller than they were in the old SBC days.

That's the reason they left the SBC for the SRL in the first place, in hopes to be in a league with schools their size so that football, of all sports, could survive. How Wikel remains Captain of the Titanic is a mystery to me. He's 23-53; take out 2014 and 2015 campaigns and he's 11-44, more than half his wins falling in a two-year span out of 7. At this point, though, I figure it's less a question of "who else can do the job," and more "who else wants the job." Fun fact: Current Perkins HC Ziegler held the job for one season in between Notestine and Wikel; went 1-9.

In addition to that both SJCC and Calvert were essentially thrown out to make way for Oak Harbor and Edison.

Always felt they were a better fit for the FC - though probably not now. And of course, there's Crestview far, far away in Olivesburg to make up for that loss. At least Mapleton got in near the ground floor.
