Just saw where Jim Thome was elected to the hall of fame in his first try. Also elected was Chipper Jones, Bladamir Guerrero, and Trevor Hoffman who join Alan Trammel and Jack Morris who were elected by maybe the veterans committee?
He is the first Indian to get in in a long time. Congrats Jim!!!

He's going in as an Indian. He signed a 1 day contract to retire as an Indian didn't he?

I hope he doesnt go in as an Indian, he walked in FA. If it were up to me they would tear his statue down. Like building a monument to the ex-wife who left you for a richer dude. Embarrassing.

I thought I heard that Thome said he is going in as a Indians player. What I would like to know is what team did Gaylord Perry chose when he was elected in the HoF. I remember when he played those celeb's all-stars games he would come out with all the insignia's from the many teams he played for on his jersey. Baseball at it's best. I also wonder how many times he got caught using his spit ball. I know he was caught one time when he was with the Indians.

Gaylord went to the HOF as a Giant, where he spent the first decade of his career in the majors. He was only with the Indians 3-4 years but long enough to get into the Tribe's HOF.

Thank you misterbreeze, I love that name reminds me of Lynyrd Skynyrd and I for one man is very sad that the last surviving members are retiring after this last tour of theirs. Anyway I wonder if they ever keep any records of him being caught using that spit, grease, sandpaper, or whatever he used on his fast ball.

Only those who have wives that don't win most battles in a marriage can put down Thome. If you've never been married, you have no idea.

Nice to see. Would like to see him go in as an Indian. He said he was going in as an Indian today but would prefer to be wearing a block C cap instead of Chief Wahoo.

Or block $$ because he did cash in. In this day and age of sports I could care less on the name on the back of the jersey. The athletes are only loyal to the dollar and personally if I were talented enough at a sport I'd probably do the same thing.

He said he was going in as an Indian today but would prefer to be wearing a block C cap instead of Chief Wahoo. He got his wish, and in fact the Baseball Hall of Fame said they will not use Chief Wahoo on any future HOF plaques as well. Though that won't really change much, of the 14 players that have gone into the Hall of Fame as Indians before Thome, only one (Early Wynn) actually has Chief Wahoo on his plaque.
