I would think that the boy from CF who just underwent Tommy John surgery after his soph season in high school should serve as enough of a cautionary tale to err on the side of caution.

With all the talk of pitch counts and running pitchers into the ground, I think all must consider what pre season arm care looks like, pre season bullpen and pitching preparation, as well what is being done for the post throwing care.
I’ve watched Kirby coach a number of years dating back to the his days at Elgin and I can honestly say there has been nothing but respect from parents of former players of his as well as former players. Not one time have I played witness to him abusing a players arm, nor have I ever heard that be the case. Not going to find a guy who cares more about his players and players health than him. BV is in good hands, change takes time, not all are handed the golden keys.

Ontario beats Harding 11-1. Can’t agree with this coaching job as someone above said. No there is no youth program, which there should be. But with this group, they should be competing better and winning some. I understand about spring break and music trip that took away some players. But other games no excuses. Players playing in wrong spots, bad decision making by coaches etc.

Maybe I missed something but to me it was just a poorly executed game. The shortstop had three errors but it could have easily been five. The pitcher had trouble locating and there were a couple misplays. Hard to blame the coaches for that loss in my opinion.

Harding wins both today against bad Beechcroft team out of Columbus, Harding played a lot of backups against those guys. Then beat tiffin Columbian 11-7, tiffin pretty good team. Detwiler and Booker both had solid hits, tiffin fans were wow’d by arm strength on one play which was nice from booker. But solid wins for a team trying to find themselves. A 3 win week.

BV swept a DH Saturday beating London and Whetstone. The London game went 9 with BV winning it on the strength of a 9-run top of the 9th. Game vs. Clear Fork today is cancelled. Absolutely no idea when all of these missed games get made up.

BV beat Harding tonight 12-5 in dreadful conditions. Game was called after 6 innings and almost 3 hours of play. One of the most miserable games (condition wise) I’ve sat thru.

Booker almost hit it out on his first at bat. Second was a no doubter. BV walked him every time thereafter. Absolutely the right strategy imo. Honestly 4 I can’t believe they played it but I’m sure it was a product of just being out of dates at this point.

Tournament draw is Sunday. I'd say the league is up against it for playing dates prior to the tournament. League games could be played during the tournament, but then you run the risk of using up your "arms" for tournament games.

BV has one open date and two saturdays of non league games that could be used and that’s it. Currently they have all their league games in or scheduled except for a home date with Galion but if anything else gets cancelled I don’t see how they get it in.

BV beats Harding 5-4 on a walkoff single. Harding gave up a 4 run lead in the last 3 innings. Credit to BV for fighting back but Harding also killed themselves with errors that let the Barons have some life.

Ontario 6, CF 3
Ontario was down 3-1 in the bottom of the 1st, with 1 out and the bases loaded, when Fisher and Freshman Griffin Shaver turned a double play. Two talented shortstops playing up the middle. Clear Fork was held scoreless the rest of the way. Ontario battled, scoring single runs in the 2nd, 4th, 5th and two in the 6th. Shaver wasn't going to play baseball this year, concentrating on basketball. Seeing Fisher get a scholarship to Ohio State, he realized his best chance was baseball. IMO he's a little more advanced than Fisher as a Freshman .

After the disgraceful display of sportsmanship I witnessed from Clear Fork tonight, I’m very glad Ontario beat them. Clear Fork has a really nice ball club. They have a long way to go in the class department.

NCAA Div1 schools are allowed 11.7 baseball scholarships. Before Title IV, I believe it was more.
There are 35 players on the Ohio State baseball roster. I'm sure some are walk-ons. I seriously doubt that anyone get's more than a half and many don't get more than a quarter. Some are given by tenths due to the .7. If you want to play baseball in college that's the way it is. That's why most college players that get drafted turn Pro.
You ask him. Personally I think it would be rather presumptuous to ask what % a kid is getting. All I know is Ohio State offered him when he was a Sophomore and he accepted. He and his father must have been happy with the %.

The minimum a DI school was allowed to offer used to be 25% and there was a maximum of either 25 or 27 players that could be getting a split scholarship when my son played. So nobody is getting tenths and of that 35 you give, maybe 10 to 12 are a walk-on. A current player at OSU has said Fisher was offered as a preferred walk-on at this time.

They have a long way to go in the class department. CF spent a lot of time yelling at our pitchers when they were about to release the ball. Like 6 year olds but got real quiet when we started winning. Other than that, no issues, but then again that was the first week of the season.

A 6th grader would tell you, since 11. 7 scholarships are available and they're "split' among your 25 or 27 players. Then more than one player has to get a tenth more or less. You do know what a Prime Number is right? Is Ridge a walk on? Simple math. 11.7 scholarships divided a .25 of a scholarship is enough for 46.8 players, there's those tenths again. 11.7 scholarships divided by .33 of a scholarship is enough for 35.45 players, there's those tenths again. 11.7 scholarships divided by 1/2 scholarships is enough for 23.4 players, there's those tenths again. Almost enough for all of your 25 or 27 to get half scholarships.

Moacmama, Glad your boys beat them. It was the same at our game. Even had an 8 year old Bat boy in the dugout taunting our pitchers. Like I said it was a disgraceful display and the umpires should’ve put a stop to it. I would be embarrassed if I was one of their parents but I gather that’s their culture. Glad BV is leaving so I never have to hear that crap again. I can tell you for certain that videos of their behavior have been sent to the OHSAA.

All you had to reply was that you did not know the answer to my question. I good offer from a D1 baseball school is 60% and that is usually a pitcher or a very big bat with good defense. Not all get them and most do not. A 40% offer is common for a solid utility player. Being offered to join as a preferred walk-on with the promise of a possible scholarship later happens quite often. You will never see a roster that every kid gets the same. If you are asking about Ridge Winand, he was offered to be a preferred walk-on to play at Ohio State and he was.

I was glad we were leaving also but not liking the thought of fighting columbus traffic to get to games in 2020. My daughter will be a Jr. then so only will have to do it 2 yrs so I will deal with it. On,y been able to make 1 baseball game but glad to see their doing well. I said anyone who came in would win as many as the last staff did the last 2 yrs because talents been there and they have. Going to try and make it out Wednesday since daughter has basketball lifting at school anyway

Does it have anything to do with the fact the head coach is so young or were they this way last season also?
