Are we allowed to still trade minors players and picks? CEO posted something about that on page 24. Basically saying that very thing but for a league vote. I haven't seen a poll posted for that. |

^^^I felt pretty good about how it was stated in the original message to the point that I didn't think a vote was necessary. Maybe we just needed the clarification and someone to actually try it.

Just to put a bow on the whole draft start and to vent out some of my frustration I'm going to go on a mini rant. You are all more than welcome to skip it over and mumble to yourselves any insults you like.
Considering I owned the 2nd pick(thx TESL), I checked both the ESPN board and this one every couple of hours Sunday just so I could get my pick in so we weren't waiting on me. I considered this basic courtesy because we all have lives outside of this league I might be one of the very few had absolutely no commitments. Secondly I had my already selected in my mind(Bart) because I was 98% certain TL23 was going to select Mize. Why 98%? Because he told me that's who he was going to take during a couple conversations I had with him while attempting to move up to #1.
As the day becomes night and there is still no post, the thought of running out the clock on the pick becomes real. Now this where I can be a real dick or too nice. I message CEO @ ~11:40pmEST. To verify the clock time for the pick. At 12:02amEST, I refreshed both boards and my phone app and so no posting for the 1st pick. At that point I said Screw it, and posted a selection of Mize.
Of course shortly after this, CEO messaged me back with the information he provided in a previous post along with screen grabs of his conversation with TL23. Their conversation took place very early east coast time. EDIT: Clarification, TL23 sent a message to CEO very early but CEO did not see it until I broached the subject near the deadline. Add to it my prior knowledge of his desire to select Mize put me and CEO in a very difficult position IMHO.
Do I make a federal case out of it? The draft day/time/order has been known for quite sometime.
Do I say forget it and just move on with the 2nd pick?
I completely understand when life gets in the way. Poop happens.
However, I don't believe there was any request to have a proxy make the selection. Which there is plenty of precedence for, and of which I would of gladly do if asked. Just like Thursday's starting lineup request.....
So I went with forget and move on. I left my original selection on the ESPN thread for 2 reasons. #1 I was in bed passed my "bedtime" and #2 I didn't bother trying to figure how to do it from my phone app.
It's 2018, figure out how to make 24 hour deadlines. If there's an issue, communicate it, there's always a way for us to work together to solve a problem.
As for next...there won't be a next time. I'll make a pick without comment or reservation if I'm put in the same situation. I for one wouldn't blame anyone but myself if the situation was reversed.
What do you guys think? Did I do right? Or should I have tried to keep the jumped pick?

Since sith vented a bit I may as well add but about myself.
I've definitely put the least amount of time into this season that I have any of the previous ones. Too much going on at work everyday and having 35 kids makes it hard. Ive never loved minors because I just didnt want to put the time into it. Now with 15, I have no motivation for it at all. I can't name you one player that is in the current minor draft besides the guys already picked. And thats only because I read the names here. It's just a lot to try to stay on top of and my competitiveness doesn't like that I don't care about part of our league. Not saying anything needs done. Just letting you know where I stand and have enjoyed this season way less than others.
