On to week 2 we go. The Galion Tigers travel to northwest Wyandot County to take on the Carey Blue Devils. Galion defeated Bucyrus 37-13 while Carey defeated Van Buren 35-16. I believe Galion and Carey have played before but I’m thinking it was in the 1950’s. Thoughts on this one.....

I posted my thoughts on the Bucyrus thread. The prevailing wisdom seems to be that Galion just doesn't have what it takes to hang with this D6 powerhouse. I mean they certainly have some returners from their playoff team last season(their first trip there since 2011). In the playoffs they upset Wynford 7-2 before being ousted by Hillsdale 44-0. It should be a pretty good game. It will tell us a lot about our young Tigers.

I think Carey takes this game in a close one. 21-14. The Carey offense from what I have been told is more pass than run. So Galions secondary will have to be ready to play.
If your going to the game make sure you bring a can opener if there's any kind of crowd for Galion. Visitors bleachers are the worst. But at least they are right on top of the bench so you'll see and hear the action better.

I went to a middle school.game at Carey years ago and we were packed in on the visitors side.....plus it was about a hundred degrees out....and parked a million miles away....good luck Galion.

^^^ You know mama, you would be a good one to ask. Is it true, as I have long suspected, that each year schools add at least five rows of steps up to the top of the bleachers and move the parking lot back at least 50 feet from the bleachers each year?

My thoughts on this one is definitely a measuring stick game. If Galion wins, then 6-7 wins should be a likelihood. If not then probably 4-5 is about right. The Tigers are young, and even more younger talent on the way. I’m looking forward to seeing how they stack up tonight.

Interesting first half. There was no score after 1. Galion really pounded the ball on Carey. Carey also lost 3 fumbles. Galion had several short fields but scored a touchdown on a long drive. It had to have been more than 8 minutes. Carey scored on a pass to number 20 who out ran everybody from Galion late in the second quarter. Galion made 2 field goals in addition to the 2 touchdowns.

Wow!!! A very wild game. Carey likes to run the ball with a power running game. Their #20 is a stud back. Several good athletes on their side. Galion really took advantage of a power running strategy with numerous runs by the quarterback 16 and a few well timed throws. Most weren’t giving Galion a chance in this game, yours truly included. Well worth my $6 investment tonight!

Great job Tigers!!!! I don't understand what the big surprise is here. We proved in the NCC that we were more than capable of playing small school football.

Nice win for Galion. They should complete their sweep of the small school N10 next week.
