I see the Indians have reaquired Santana in a trade that involved Edwin and Diaz. Kind of sad when you consider that Goldschmidt was available.

Indians get: Carlos Santana and $6M from SEA, 1B Jake Bauers from TB
Rays get: Yandy Diaz, minor league pitcher Cole Sulser and the 77th pick in the competitive balance draft, all from CLE
Mariners get: Edwin Encarnacion from CLE and $5M from TB

It’s unlikely St. Louis will resign him, but at least they’re willing to try to win this season. Of course they don’t have the luxury of playing in a division where 500 baseball gets you into the playoffs.
