Everybody gets worked up about Putnam County all the time. i'm not sure what the Norwalk fan base is like this year,,but I saw first hand the South Central school district and Willard turn out for the Districts. It's a pretty big deal ! And you can throw in Bellevue girls and Willard Girls followings as being strong as well.

Even though SC fans and Willard fans may have filled the Willard and Norwalk gyms for a District Final, Putnam county schools would fill them for game 4 of the regular season. OG did a nice job filling their portion of the BGSU gym for regionals while their girls team was also playing in Columbus the same day.

It's the same with public schools around the state that go on runs and win District Titles. The fans at the beginning of the season are not close to the numbers that follow as the wins accumulate. If a school has teams that continually reach the District Finals, their fans are more loyal all year, every year.

Amazing when you see pics online or in the fishwraps how many empty seats there are at a lot of games now at many schools. Different era we live in now where the kids have so many different avenues of entertainment and the school spirit just not there. Still like seeing other schools attend games of those whom still in tournament play. Norwalk/Vermilion game there was easily 10 different school jackets walking around.

As it was for the District games at Madison. Many coaches, players and fans from schools in north-central Ohio no longer playing. District games are usually good basketball, played with high intensity.

The middle and elementary are definitely not Yep, the furthest two are the HS and Elementary, which are 1 mile apart as the crow flies, and the MS is roughly halfway between them.

I was going to say Bellevue HS is a block from Huron County, and maybe 1/,4 mile from Erie County, and all 3 schools being in same end of town. For trivial purpose, Bellevue HS was in Huron County when it won State in 1945.

I was going to say Bellevue HS is a block from Huron County, and maybe 1/,4 mile from Erie County, and all 3 schools being in same end of town. Using google maps measure distance tool (as the crow flies): Bellevue High School is... 380 feet from Huron County 0.5 miles from Erie County 1.8 miles from Seneca County Bellevue Middle School is... 0.1 miles from Sandusky County 0.3 miles from Erie County 2.1 miles from Seneca County Bellevue Elementary is... 0.2 miles from Huron County 0.4 miles from Sandusky County 2.6 miles from Seneca County Bellevue Admin Building is... 330 Feet from Sandusky County 1.0 miles from Erie County 1.3 miles from Seneca County Yep, didn't become a Sandusky County school until the current building was built in 1962. Though on another note, unless there was a predecessor to Harmon Field that I don't know about, Bellevue football has always played its home games in Sandusky County

I wondered the same; don't know of a facility before Harmon.

Back when Bellevue had the other school buidings....Lyme, Shumaker, Ridge and Bellevue Junior High were in Huron County, Ellis, York and BHS were in Sandusky. Once upon a time York and Thompson were there own school districts in which Thompson choose to go in with Bellevue over Seneca East. York was a single k-12 building and Flat Rock was the k-5 building for Thompson, while THS held grades 6-12. After consolidation York became an elementary and Thompson became a middle school with grades 7-9. Thompson closed a few years later and most of the students in Thompson and parts of Adams Twp in k-6 ended up going to York, Other students who resided near Flat Rock ended up going to Ridge or Lyme.

Do you know when those consolidations happened? I wanna say early 60's for York and late 60's or early 70's for Thompson? I did know that Thompson was used for a while after the consolidation, as that gives Bellevue the distinction of having operated schools in all 4 counties (just never all 4 at the same time) Also, do you remember Pike and McKim elemetaries, or know when they closed? I'm guessing McKim was replaced by Ridge and that Pike closed after they started using York?

Read more: ncoast.proboards.com/thread/2185/huron-county-2019#ixzz5huAUlQmfYes York was first in the mid 60's followed by Thompson in 1970. Pike was closed probably when Shumaker and York came into play at that time as pivotal elementary schools, say late 50s/early60s absorbed by Ellis and Shumaker most likely. MckIM closed as a result of Ridge in the early to mid 60s. The Elementary school attendance zones had the weirdest boundaries. The north side of town from Buckeye Street to Greenwood Park and Euclid Ave area all the way up 269 and back down Northwest Road. East of 269 students who lived in the Lyme attendance zone from Strecker Road all the way down to Route 4 and 547 over to Sandhill Road/Williams Road to Route 113 near Monroeville. Actually Williams Road north of Route 20 is Bellevue and S of 20 is Monroeville Schools. lol Ridge had the shortest attendance zone the entire east end from downtown Bellevue to 113 west of Prairie Road..What was weird though is that kids who lived in some the Ridge attendance zones went to Lyme and kids that lived south of town on Route 18 by Hogues, 269 down to Flat Rock Road to Flat Rock proper attended Ridge School. Kids who lived down Monroe Street/Baur Road all the way to the tracks went to Lyme. York had the most students with 600-700 kids with three classes of kids in each grade. The southern boundary of Bellevue schools seems to intertwine with Seneca Easts boundary and the hs is only five miles from the boundary. Clyde and parts of Tiffin City also intertwine with Bellevue in Adams Twp, yes Bellevue school busses have alot of long routes..lol

I despise being a downer but all 3 Huron County schools got a hard lesson on how weak Huron County is at basketball, it's a cut below the rest of the State.

Just like Upper in 05, 07, PC 11, Norwalk in 14, Lex in 18 by my count that’s 5 out of last ten years with a team in the final 4 and 2 STATE champs...Not bad for the area Debbie...

A divison 2 state championship in the last 5 years. 3 teams in the sweet 16 in 3 different divisions this year how many other county’s can say that?
