Is it safe to assume athletically-motivated transfers are now allowed? The answer isn't "they found a home in Hopewell".

IMO this should be a sit out 50% plus tournament too.. because the move was not out of necessity..
this is what is wrong with high school sports today!

Moved for better academics? Moved to attend a smaller school(250 vs 800)? Moved to live out in the country vs in the city? Allowable reasons.

Moved to play with the best post player in the area. And all they had to do is rent or by a trailer in the mobile home park next to the Seneca County fairgrounds. In Hopewell district but barely out of city limits. At least that's what I would do... not saying that is what they did wink wink.. 😉😉

This situation will get closely examined by the OHSAA. Not saying it will change anything but the comments alone will raise some ears and eyes in Columbus.

Were they dumb enough to say the reason for the move was for a sport?? BTW, the basketball and soccer players that have moved to Ontario have used better academics as the reason. I was once asked what to say. I told them not to worry, from Mansfield to Ontario academics is a reason that would never be challenged. But I also told them not to try to get away with just renting a trailer for the address, actually move. Ontario administrators check and would turn them in.

Mother, father and all sisters and brothers, ever a grandparent if one is living with the family.

Quotes like this will raise some eyebrows and red flags.

This shows the arrogance of the people making these moves. They feel they are justified and able to swing their kids where ever they want them to play.

The key here is that the mother actually bought a house in the district and they physically moved, it doesn't matter why. The only potential issue here could be whether or not she officially enrolled at her new school before she began "working out" with her new team.

A kid from Lucas can workout in the summer with the Galion team without any issues.

Although I'm not sure why a school would allow it unless they've enrolled for liability reasons alone.

This happens all the time around the state except most parents keep quiet about it. I’ll be curious to see if the OHSAA addresses this in future rule revisions.

EXCEPT, if you move into a district with better academics, the OHSAA will NEVER question if that's the reason given.

Not a bit different than what the Gal and her parents from Tiffin Calvert did by moving their daughter to Norwalk for Volleyball where she played for 2-3 years.2011--2013 Clearly that wasn't an academic move going from a Private HS to a lousy Norwalk scholastic,,but prolific Volleyball school.
