The Bucks are going to face the best defensive front they will see all season, one of the best in the country. They run a 4-3 and utilize a cover 4 concept. They are very aggressive and physical, with the goal to shut down the running game and they try and neutralize the passing game with pressure on the QB, with the best defensive end not named Chase young. I think we will rely on a quick passing game, with bubble screens and once like the home opener, use our TE's as targets in underneath coverage, to use their aggressiveness against them. Wouldn't be surprised to see more QB draws than we have seen to date. #48 Kenny Willekes is moved around a lot, so we need to know where he is every play. Like Chase Young, he makes life miserable for opposing backfields. Think our defense will make it a very long day for the MSU offense, so the focus is going to be how the Buckeyes attack that excellent defense and how our young QB handles some extreme pressure situations.

Well Indiana had pretty good success against that excellent defense. 20 1/2 is a big line but I think the Buckeyes can cover this week.

This has for 45 years been a trap game for OSU. Probably no other team has seemingly had our number when we've had a really good team. That being said I'd like to think our guys won't look past MSU but moreover view it as a challenge to be excited about. It seems like OSU is not only very talented, but also very well coached across all units. I don't think we've seen this combo of talent and coaching who bring out the best of the players and team in 40 years. We've always had talent, but using it to the fullest extent has always been just a little shy. This year we are seeing both.
Wearing all black at night, at home, good weather against a more talented team than any we've faced thus far,,this should stir up some intensity and electricity in the crowd. Looking forward to it, that's for sure.

Torch, your predicted score was wayyyy off. lol
Game went kinda the way I figured. MSU slowed us down for awhile. It took OSU a little while to adjust to playing a good defense rather than the sisters of the poor defense. In my view it was 41-10 if not for a bogus penalty flag in Fuller's beautiful TD return run of an INT.
Glad to see Tyreke Smith back out there #11. He is better than starter Jonanthan Cooper #18,,or Tyler Friday. Another DE who seemed to be quite active in the pass rush was Zach Harrison. LB Malik H #39 looks like an NFL LB to me. Big strong and hard hitting guy. I think this is the best defense we've had top to bottom in quite sometime. Really no weaknesses and it is deep.
I think our depth, with the exception of QB is off the charts good. We have some guys who are not playing who are really talented, but the guys ahead of them are more experienced and just a tad better.

Interesting stat
Ohio State's REGULAR Season record since the start of 2012 98.0% 48-1 - When any QB on the roster not named JT Barrett IV started the game 87.8% 36-5 - When JT Barrett IV started the game

I wondered if the early dropped long ball by Victor B might come back to haunt them but it didn't matter. He had a step, might have scored. He atoned for it later.
Overall, a good test for OSU. Sparty played hard and physical. They failed to capitalize on opportunities that could have made this a closer game and had too many TOs. All in all, a solid win for the Bucks.

The OL continues to amaze. coach Stud has this unit playing at a high level. They started slowly in the 1st quarter, but finished in a dominating fashion, not only at the point of attack, but getting into their man down field. They wore down the sparty defensive front and was blowing big holes 2nd half. This is developing into one of the best OL's ever at OSU!

The blind side block rule isn’t called correctly in either college or the nfl. I mean it’s football, you’re going to get hit.

In my view it was 41-10 if not for a bogus penalty flag in Fuller's beautiful TD return run of an INT. Bogus is just one of the many adjectives I can think of to describe that call. Several of them would be altered by this site's language filter.

Browning needs to be playing about 90% of the defensive snaps with Borland playing the other 10%.

Might not Browning's play have something to do with not having to play 90% of snaps?

The fact we only got 3 points out of 2 TOs in the first quarter is a bit deflating. Against a top-10 team, that's the difference in the game there.

The fact we only got 3 points out of 2 TOs in the first quarter is a bit deflating. Against a top-10 team, that's the difference in the game there. Difference in the game......really? If you perceive game opening play, where both teams are trying to figure out the other and ignoring Day's team dominance once that was accomplished, as 'deflating'.....hmmmm Well, they certainly 'inflated' things big time in the 2nd quarter. After end of 1st quarter coaching adjustments, that proved to be quite dramatic, the Buckeyes took control of the LOS on both sides of the ball and never looked back. Michigan State never knew what hit 'em, with their opponent scoring 3 TD's and a FG, and exploding for 296 yards of offense in the 2nd quarter dominance! They inflated their game, big time! 529 yards of offense is a good day at the office, in anyone's book and 323 rushing yds. vs. the #4 rushing defense is an accomplishment and a total confidence builder for the big games that lie ahead. GO BUCKS!

I don’t think he meant it was the difference in this game, it could be a difference in a game against a team like Alabama or Clemson or Georgia.

I don’t think he meant it was the difference in this game, it could be a difference in a game against a team like Alabama or Clemson or Georgia. Thank you for pointing that out to me, I get it now. To expound on my comments, I think those moments between quarters, put coach Day and his staff on full display, that this is an extremely well coached football team. His analytical and critical thinking, in the moment, can match that of Dabo, Saban, Kirby, Lincoln, Franklin and Chryst.
