Let's be plain. In that situation, grabbing the ball and cradling it after a made basket, was an obvious attempt to give Willard a few extra seconds to set their inbound and full court defense. Why should the officials blow the whistle and give a warning, which would actually have given a reward of more time? It was unsportsmanlike conduct by the coach and/or player, whether that was the actual call or not. The official did the right thing. This exact situation happened to our girls last year. A delay of game warning was issued - which is exactly what they wanted since they were out of timeouts - but it should have been a technical foul for unsporting conduct.

All credit goes to cc.they came to play with something to prove. We ****** down our leg. We got out played and We got destroyed on the boards. It would be interesting to see how many second chance points they got.cc was the aggressor.they took us completely out of our game and their coach had his kids dialed in and believing they could win.why did we wait so long to start pressing and trapping?I believe I said it from the start of the season that by not having a bench might rear it's head well...it did. Great season and much to be proud of just didn't think it would end this soon. But that's the beauty and the beast of the tournament. On any given night anyone can be beat.good luck to cc the rest of the way.

That would explain why the clock never stopped for the first turnover of the game. Fans from both sides saw it but the officials were oblivious. If the officials didn't see it, it didn't happen. LOL ... so true!!
Can I get a high five here Bellevue people??

Just watched St.Mary & Lucas rerun on BCSN, The clock & buzzer operator had some problems at the end of regulation, Rang the buzzer too soon, before time ran out on Lucas. It forced an early half court shot, That the officials waved off, So they were going by the buzzer not the clock. The announcers commented on the difference. Clock & buzzer controversy is not only at St. Mary, And Mansfield.

If the automatic horn feature is engaged, I am not sure how that happens.

Robert L Haas, Said on the radio, Willard played too slow from the start, Then picked up the pace when it was too late. Coaching decision. like to get back to this topic a little. Why would coach b want to delay the game by telling a kid to hold the ball? momentum at that time was defineltly on our side.with 25 seconds left we still had time to trap and or foul. That play wasn't the reason we lost but I sure would of liked to see how it would of played out.i know he wanted to set up his defense but you still had 25 seconds. I don't understand the philosophy.

That could have cost Lucas big time! They talked it over and decided to do nothing!

It was a good decision just poorly executed. CC was having a terrible time of just getting the ball inbounded in that 4th qtr.The previous and last timeout willard had, coach b told the kids to get a delay so they could set there press after a score. If the ball would of just been batted away it would of been brillant, instead it was cradled. I believe CC had 2 5 sec calls on them trying to inbound in the 4th.

I agree with the intent to get the delay call, clearer instructions should have been given during the timeout.

Biggest reason I think CC won. The older Walker completely took Baldridge/Skeeter out of the game. He was virtually a non factor. Both Walkers out-played him. And Fenner & Studer out-played Parrott / Coop. More coach able and more team players are the Cc players. Teams win championships not individuals!

royalballdad with yet another hot mess post. Outstanding for a chicken chit like you. Looking at his post history, his evaluation of team talent is laughable....predicting Wynford to win the N10. He rages with jealousy of the Flashes program.

Maybe zealous (more respect) of OG or Lexington or Ontario or Norwalk or Lucas but not zealous of Willard. Players (parents) who care more about individual awards then the team - usually get what they deserve.... early exits from the tourney!

It's a shock to the system when you play someone as good or better than you. From the looks of it CC didn't do so well when they did,,,which is why I'm thinking Willard,,,, and Eastwood- just in an upset. Apparently you were right... but in reverse! Western will take care of Eastwood. CC vs Western in Finals. As LEE CORSO would say on college game day. "Not so fast my friend" Dont quit your day job trying to handicap high school basketball games. Eastwood beats WR, not vice versa.

Joe should of told the kids to bat it away not hold it.just another mistake in the last minute of play that hurt us.after playing as bad as we did we still had our chances.

Guess none of you guys are football fans and had the team opposing yours fake an injury in order to stop the clock when it benefits them. Joe B. must have been trying to teach the lesson that intentionally breaking the rules if it benefits you is OK. Glad the official was wise enough to see through that and awarded the "T".

Fouling is against the rules too. You've watched minimal basketball if you haven't seen teams intentionally foul to stop the clock and try to gain a possession. It's a strategy used in desperate game situations.

Totally lost how/why this is being debated??? Willard scored to cut the lead to 2 with 25 seconds left... Why would you tell your kids to hold the ball or delay the game. Just defend the inbounds an then foul. That amount of time is an eternity. What am I missing???

It had very little to do with the loss.

Three possessions at least.well anyway I found out what was said in the huddle...time to move on.
