Sports has all but screeched to a halt. For many of us sports has been a part of our lives for decades. Even if sports are gone for a year or more, I believe us older folks will slide right back in our comfort zone and follow the sports we've loved. But what of the youth? 12-18 months without sports is a vacuum that will be filled with other things and many of those other things aren't so great. If sports made us better men and women shouldn't we make a special effort to support and promote sports once this virus thing is over. That's something that we can do for the younger generations. And since this is a sports forum, who better than us to fuel the fire?
Step 1 of your mission is to keep the thrill of sports in front of people's eyes. Let's hear of some sporting events from the past that we can sling to our big screen TVs. What events inspired you and helped make sports so important to you that it still burns in your heart.
Give us 5-10 events we can proudly show our family and friends. Let's spread it around to many sports and even sports movies. Big High School Games Top Olympic Moments College Madness Professional Battles Inspiring Sports Movies
(I had this idea last night after watching 24 year-old Tiger Woods win the 2000 US Open at Pebble Beach by 15 strokes in what may be the greatest individual golfing performance I've seen. And you can watch almost all of it on Youtube!)

I think, once this virus is defeated, the American public will support sports of all kinds, with a fervor that has never before, been seen. I think that goes with other things we have been denied and previously taken for granted, like going to your favorite restaurant, sitting at a table and actually ordering off a menu. Expect to see lines at popular restaurant entrances for a while. Let's all hope, we see this transpiring sooner than most are expecting.

As great a victory/upset that was, could one imagine had it actually been the Gold Medal game? Looking back, I think US was fortunate to beat Finland considering the anticlimactic factor. ^^^^^^^^
Hard to believe its been 40 years. I remember reading reports at the time of people pulling over on the highways and dancing and high-fiving each other in the rain.
